Hmm, how do i get my domain back?

One of my domains expired and not renewed because i didnt have updated contact info in godaddy (what a tard i am!!) lol

Someone grabbed it and has a generic search page up there.

I sent email to the whois email address, but no response.

Do they get a good deal on buying mass amounts of domains at a time? Why would they throw some stupid generic search page, on a site that was developed and marketed?

Whatever, now i have to work on getting it back ...

Are you sure your domain is not just in the redemption period?
Alot of registars put up some parked/search page while the domain is in that period. The domains generally are $160+/- to get out of redemption. Have you asked your registrar?

when did it expire? if it is more than 60-90 days, you can forget it

why is that? Im not looking to get it for free. it would be nice, but whoever has it should sell it to me. or at least discuss the option

lil2rich4u2 06-02-2007 08:47 AM

Aha i found this ..

Quote:

If your domain registration expires, we?the domain registrar?attempt to automatically renew it for you. If that fails, we send you up to three expiration notifications by email. Following the third and final auto-renewal attempt?12 days after the domain registration has expired?the domain enters a redemption period, during which you may retrieve your domain name for an additional fee and renew it by contacting customer support. The redemption period lasts 30 days.

One week into the redemption period, the expired domain?assuming that its registration has not been renewed?is placed into a 10-day domain auction, allowing prospective registrants to bid on the domain. The winner of the auction obtains the domain registration ownership two weeks after the auction end date if the original owner fails to renew the domain by the end of the redemption period.

Once the redemption period ends?and the domain has neither been renewed nor obtained through auction or backordering?the domain is deleted at the registry. The domain name re-enters the public pool of available domains, and it is no longer redeemable.
It would appear that my domain expired, and then went to auction.

So did anyone bid on it? It sounds to me that even if they did and its still in redemption, you can still renew it. In your registrar admin, does it show the domain in the redemption state and give you the option of paying for it?

that sux. I kinda know how it feels - a bit like a shit sandwich with really nice gravy that repeats on you whilst eating the most tender sirloin steak covered in diane sauce with cauliflour au gratin, honey carrots and baby peas. mmmm baby peasssssss....

I feel fer yeah, I lost some fine domains during the regfly debacle (though I seem to have kept the most valuable one through no fault of my own.)

lil2rich4u2 06-02-2007 08:56 AM

Actually now the whois lookup says Tucows owns it. So i dunno wtf to do, their site says they do not sell direct to customers

Welcome to GFY! lol

kacy 06-02-2007 09:01 AM

But where did you buy it at? They should be able to help you get it back. Right, Tucows just sells to resellers, not direct. So you must have bought it from a reseller.

ztik 06-02-2007 09:02 AM

Your fucked, its gone.
