Grouping keywords for PPC
 

Ok, so you have built a 30K keyword list. How do you go about deciding what groups to put them into? What process do you follow?

I need help on this subject as its frustrating me.

Take this example:

free ringtones for cingular nokia 6010
free ringtones for nokia 6010
free ringtones for nokia 6010 cell phone
free ringtones for t mobile to go nokia 6010
free ringtones for t mobile to go phone nokia 6010
free ringtones nokia 6010
free ringtones nokia 6010 and 3390
free ringtones sent to my nokia 6010
free tones and ringtones nokia 6010 cingular
mobile nokia 6010 ringtones
nokia 6010 1.99 ringtones
nokia 6010 free ringtones

You can group on:
- nokia ringtones
- 6010 ringtones
- free ringtones
- ringtones for
etc

How do you decide? I want an algo!

If the page you are sending them too is about ringtoens for that specific model of phone then obviously you go with "6010 ringtones". If your page is just about ringtones for nokia phones of all types then you use "nokia ringtones". If your page is about free ringtones in general then you use "free ringtones" I wouldn't use "ringtones for" in any circumstance.

I am talking about how to group the keywords and then you can decide what landing page to create. Or even send all the adgroups to the same landing page but with a dynamic keyword insertion for relevancy.

So really the discussion is about how to group the keywords, rather than the landing page content.

Therin lies your problem you are doing it backwards. Is there a reason why you a choosing that particular model of phone? Are you going to be offering more than that model? What is the ultimate goal you except to achive when the surfer gets to your page? You can't just say "Here are some keywords how do I group them" and not give out any specifics and expect a reasonable answer. Are you trying to sell ringtones? Are you just trying to get them to go to a page with a bunch of Adsense ads on it? Are you trying to get them to upgrade a phone or get them to use a particular cellular service?

It is all about ringtones. No reasons for that phone model. Can be any phone model. Goal is to send someone to a ringtone merchant.

I group my KWs by my conversion funnel and expected searcher's intention. That way I know where to spend more money.

thats alot of work with atht many names but maybe do something like:
