yes, until he starts explaining why he is against safety regulations, of how companies shouldn't be forced to test products but would fix them after some people die from them

Gore/Obama will be an unbeatable ticket.

Ronald Reagan and Dwight Eisenhower could come back from the dead and they wouldn't be able to beat Gore/Obama.

Of course we still don't know if Gore will run, but I hope he does

IllTestYourGirls 05-31-2007 03:42 PM

Gore and Obama = highest taxes in US history. Gore and Obama = end of free speach. thats my guess.

logically it's unbeatable, BUT if the Republicans run a "What the fuck are they thinking" candidate, like Reagan and Bush, they can win, they've proven it

it's not because the Republicans keep saying that, that it's true, it's the Republicans that usually cause the highest taxes, except if you're really rich of course, let us remember Bush I

I wish they would let other parties have more of a say in this process. It's like having to choose between a big mac and a whopper.

they fill you up alright....with shit.

Ron Paul 2008

TheMaster 05-31-2007 04:34 PM

what I don't get is how anyone in adult can vote for a party that's utterly controlled by the christian right, a group of people that doesn't just hate us, but that wants to eradicate us

also, anyway you try to spin it: the Dollar is worth shit thanks to this administration, it's pretty much (dramatically) down against any other major currency
+ Bush doubled US debt (not talking about deficit here, total debt) in 6 years, btw it took 200+ years to accumulate the pre-Bush 2 debt

During the Eisenhower administration the top tax rate was 92%.

In 1985, during the middle of the Reagan years, the top tax rate was 50%.

Throughout the entire Clinton administration the top tax rate was 39.6%

In 1986 Reagan signed the tax reform act which raised capital gains taxes from 20 to 28%.

Clinton left the rate the same but exempted profits on home sales up to $250,000. Then in 1997 he signed legislation that dropped the top rate to 21.2%

As for the free speech thing, you've got to be kidding me right? Two liberal democrats are going to hurt free speech as opposed to the bible thumpers the republicans nominate?
WTF are you smoking???

That's not necessarily true. Bush cut taxes, and although it benefited the rich the most, the rich pay the most taxes. The top 5% pays for over half of the income taxes in this country. When you cut taxes, the rich will benefit.

Both spend like crazy. Democrats spend and tax, Republicans spend and borrow. In the end, we're going to pay for it one way or the other.

It's just sheep. People get caught up in the "I belong to this party" game and treat it like a game and not reality. If you're in adult and vote for a far right candidate, you don't give two shits about yourself or the industry. If you're going to vote Republican, you vote for someone with Libertarian views like Paul and even Guiliani to an extent.

Yes but the top 5% have 2/3 of the money in this country.

When you figure out how much money is actually PAID in taxes (not the marginal rate, but the amount actually paid) the top 2% pay much less in taxes than the bottom 80%.

No matter what the rates are, there are loopholes, shelters, and tricks that allow the rich to avoid paying taxes. The working poor and middle class don't have access to those loopholes, and they pay alot more in taxes as a percentage of their income than the rich do.

except for Ron Paul maybe, is there any Republican running who says Bush is doing a bad job, not the "some mistakes were made"-line, but really "he has done a disastrous job"?

So, how can people keep voting Republican, because Democrats aren't ideal or have flaws:
1. they can hardly be worse than Bush
2. none of the Republicans has the balls to stand up to him, so how do you know they just won't continue his legacy?

If the US keeps this up, we're going to 2 dollars a euro, it's already 2 dollars to a pound.
Please don't start the "it's good for exports"-crap, saw this newspiece, where they went to the harbor of San Francisco, I think it was:
26 something (millions or something) tons of import, 6 something tons of export and most of the export was raw materials not finished products. So the reporter says "like with colonies", harbor master "indeed, only we're the colony"
