What do you think of sites with music?

A friend of mine offered me to do a soundtrack for my site. I know some people are annoyed when they go on a site with music. I was thinking of something sultry and relaxing; nothing too hardcore or loud...

Is it a good idea to have music on a solo site? Your :2 cents: please :)

kane 05-31-2007 12:42 PM

personally, If I go to a site and it has music on it I almost always immediately leave. It is very annoying.

billybathgate 05-31-2007 12:43 PM

i hate em

RawAlex 05-31-2007 12:44 PM

Never put music on a site. Porn surfers value their privacy, and they don't want to have their computer get all noisy and wake up their wife or girlfriend of whatever. Music on a website without warning is a total fucking annoyance that will cost you traffic and sales, IMHO

CIVMatt 05-31-2007 12:44 PM

You're really asking this question? Music on sites is like the biggest amateur no-no ever, you might as well host your site on geocities while your at it

psili 05-31-2007 12:47 PM

I'm going to agree with everything already said.

headless ghost 05-31-2007 12:50 PM

it ruins my rhythm.
and mom catches me.
she thinks it will fall off is I jerk off.
or go blind

Yes, im asking the question as a person who is beginning with a solo site, is not surfing porn as a surfer point of view and to not assume things before I do them. I work in webcam and one thing guys always ask for is sound and music.

Well I try to take care of weather my site will be 2257 compliant before I go into such details as should I put music on my solo site. To me these questions are the biggest no-no's. The rest is just a question of esthetics and taste.

Mediachick 05-31-2007 01:16 PM

well I guess its clear that I shouldnt go for it... Too bad; its the first time I get this guy to do something for me for free!! :1orglaugh

wil_I_Am 05-31-2007 01:23 PM

I always thought that it was annoying as well, but for some reason I think it's cool on community sites like myspace. Music choices tell a lot about the person, imo..

So I wonder if myspace will help break the barrier of music on webpages? :question

Music on webcam is one thing, but music on a tour is a big no-no

by putting music on a site, you're basically saying "fuck you" to anyone that happens to be listening to their own music when they visit your site.

ztik 05-31-2007 02:31 PM

I scamble for my back button to close the site.
If I REALLY need something off it I will mute my sound.

Scott McD 05-31-2007 02:33 PM

It's a big 'No No' for me.

Just think about how annoying the sound banners on GFY are. That should be enough to put you off... :winkwink:

tranza 05-31-2007 03:00 PM

That's the most annoying thing around!!

BigCashCrew 05-31-2007 03:19 PM

I wouldn't do it. If a guy is surfing porn the last thing he wants is something unexpected like music. He could get caught. lol
Usually the first thing I do when I go to a site with music is exit the page.

EBORG9 05-31-2007 03:39 PM

When I go to a Night Club or DJ's site, I Fully and Whole Heartedly expect to hear

"Boom-tchk-Boom-tchk-Boom-tchk-Boom-tchk",

if I don't I feel as if THEY are amatures.
Other than that...better leave it off.

Why as a Canadian are you worried whether your solo site will be 2257 compliant or not? Chances are, if it is 2257 compliant, it may violate the Canadian privacy law!

I run my own site and I would have to agree with posts made. I always kind of picture of it as jolting them out of their skin due to being surprised. If they are trying to be discreet and some music comes out of no where, it could kind of ruin the moment as well as alert people who might have been aware of what they were doing. I don't stay on sites that have music(I kind of hate myspace pages for this), especially ones that embed and give you no way to turn it off.

SomeCreep 05-31-2007 04:49 PM

I hate any sound on websites. In fact, unless I'm listening to .mp3s, I keep my computer on mute.

madawgz 06-01-2007 06:15 AM

if you're going to put music on the site, dont make it play automatically...let the user click to play it...

alby_persignup 06-01-2007 08:18 AM
