Anyone use the Canon XH A1 ?

Has any one used the Canon XH A1 HD camcorder?

Have not used the Canon, but I have played with the Sony. I am personally not a big fan of Sony. My main reason is that I am MAC based and Sony is very proprietary and do not play well with others. If you are using Vegas for your editing the Sony may be a good choice.

If you have a little more room in the budget go up to the Panasonic HVX200. Until the RED is released it is the HD choice to beat.

One should be able to capture and edit footage from a FX-1 on either platform, Mac or pc without incident, unless you have something wrong with your configuration. But there are newer cameras out there that may be better options if you don't mind spending more money.

the sony has problems with the on board internal mic. if you opt for it, you need to solve that right off the bat.

It's a fanstastic Cam IMO. The FX-1 has a lot of body noise. Unless you want uncompressed HD (in which case go with the panny) the XH-A1 is probably the best cam in that price range.

my two cents.. but I am budgeting for the Panasonic HVX200... haven't found anything to compete with it as of yet
