Kobe did NOT run Shaq out of town. Jerry Buss did. Kobe asked for a trade because the Lakers front office is incompetent and lied to him on top of it.

They told Kobe they were in 'win-now' mode and would get him help. They told Phil Jackson they were in a rebuilding mode, 4-5 years.

He's pissed. The Lakers can't trade him anyway. They'll have to sacrifice someone, my hope it's Kupchak. Bring back West and finally make some sensible trades.

They had shots at Baron Davis, Ron Artest, and Jason Kidd. Maybe they'll sign Jermaine O'Neal.

Kobe didn't run Shaq out of town.

That's no more than a rumor that's gotten more credibility than it deserves.


I don't recall having a say in the decision. From my perspective, it was between Shaq and Laker's management.

I am a Lakers fan and always will be a Lakers fan. I was hoping that things would be worked out and I was talking with a friend(from LA) on the phone last night for "3 hours" about the situation after his radio show. I have been watching every Lakers game for years and went to a couple games this year and I don't live in LA. I pretty much thought it was over and Kobe wanted to be traded after the radio show last night, but my friend convinced me that they would work something out. Then I just read the news and Lakersground is getting overloaded as I am sure a lot of Lakers fans are trying to access it now... I wish Kobe wouls stay in LA, but I can't really blame him, with everything going on and with what the management and ownership has done. The owner just got a DUI, two of their best players have diminished trade value since they just had surgery, some insider said Kobe demanded Shaq be traded, etc. etc. I would demand a trade too. He gave them three years to do something and they haven't done shit and he has carried the team into the playoffs twice and broken records
