What % of window tint do you have on your vehicle(s)?
 

We just made an appointment to get the front 2 windows tinted on our Jeep Grand Cherokee tomorrow and the receptionist said they do 35% which is legal or 20% which isn't (if we pay cash). I want them as dark as possible, but I don't know if it will be worth the hassle.

What do you guys get?

All the rear windows I have at 5% (limo tint) and the front windows I have at 35%. From what I remember, here it is illegal to have any tint on the front windows, so you have to sign a waiver to get any tint done on them.

No idea, mine were already tinted when I bought the car.

I would go with 20% it's not likely you will ever get pulled over for the tint. Just stay away from tinting the front window.

I have a Jeep Cherokee, not the grand. I have the rear door windows and the rear windows 5%. Rear window is 10%.

Fronts have to be 35%. If the law catches you, its a ticket and an order to remove the tint and provide proof that the tint has been removed, thus, wasting the money you spent getting it put on.

Happened in the mustang. Got pulled over and had to remove the 20% and prove it :(

What color is the Jeep? If its white or a light color, the tint will really stick out. You dont want to give the cops another reason to pull you over.. Best advice, have the shop match the factory tint from the back windows as best as possible.

I have all my windows tinted, i am not totally sure the % because the fronts are a tad lighter.

The chances of cops pulling you over FOR JUST TINTING arent very high imo. but if you are caught speeding and they feel like being an asshole they WILL write you a ticket.

It is illegal here to have the front ones done and the back ones below a certain %, mine are all illegal but i have never had problems but i have had buddies who have been ticketed.

It really depends what you want, i think tints make cars look 100000x better and to me it is worth the possible price of a ticket.

I have 35% all the way around and have only been pulled over for the front tint once. Make sure they offer a lifetime warranty on the tint, most good companies do.

I spray painted my windows black. Visibility is for pussies.

it depends on the state. Here in Cali, we cant legally tint any front window. it has to remain stock. we can only tint the back 2 side windows and the rear.

I have 15% all around my car except on the windshield. if you get pulled its either a 15$ ticket or u take em off and show the sheriff n ur good.

i got 15% and its well worth it. its perfect, not to dark at night to see, but dark enough for peoeple to not see in. Also cops never know if its 15% or not.; If you go 5% you will get tickets a lot, but 15% is fine

Go with the maximum allowed by law.

If you get stopped by a cop he might tell you to take it out if it doesn't follow the law.

if you have 35% all around then it's pretty effective . I don't put anything darker then that because the wife has a hard time seeing out the back at night.

I have limo tint all around

there was a period in georgia when all tint laws were pulled from the books, it was about 2 years total....I got mine done then and I have a reciept to prove it, and when the cops mention it I just show them the reciept and they says ok....as long as you got it done in that time frame they can't ticket you

So if you have any non-factory tint on the front's in California and a cop gives you a ticket for it, you have to 1) Pay $10-15 fine AND 2) remove it and get it signed off on, right?

Seems like a lot of hassle esp. if they can make you remove the tint.

mine is pretty dark.. not sure what's the percentage but you can barely see insinde in the back.
