Any sport can be boring or exciting depending on you perception, importance of the game, and even how that particular game plays out. I'm not a BIG baseball fan but I can appreciate some cool things about the sport. There are some moments in baseball games that can be electrifying. On the other hand, even though soccer is the most popular sport in the world, I find a lot of games to be unbearably boring, especially games that end 0-0, or 1-0, 1-1, etc and there are a lot of those.

g$$$ 05-27-2007 12:26 PM

baseball is boring...i cant think of a more boring sport

truebluetalent 05-27-2007 12:26 PM

Baseball- especially the Devil Rays

GT-Omar 05-27-2007 12:29 PM

Both are boring to watch, but FUN as hell to play.

Humpy Leftnut 05-27-2007 12:30 PM

People who find everything boring, don't pay enough attention in life.

fris 05-27-2007 01:05 PM

i love watching tim wakefield pitch

The thread should have been "which is more boring, baseball or soccer (football)".

However, as J. Falcon put it, it's the perspective of the viewer that determines how enjoyable a sport is. Personally, I never watch any sporting even on my own. If I'm around a group of spectators who are actively involved in a game being played, then I'll naturally be more involved. For instance - I'd never watch a soccer game. However, I had the unfortunate situation of spending three weeks in England. The wife and I went to the local pub nightly and one night there was a soccer game of some magnitude that the pub was packed - it was a blast to watch. I don't know who won, who was playing or what, but it really was fun to watch just by pure energy of all other spectators in that pub. *shrug*

I watch alot of American sports over here, but i find baseball to be the most boring... :2 cents:

BobG 05-27-2007 01:56 PM

hockey has more mullets so i just can't relate. Baseball has mullets too but hockey more.

IllTestYourGirls 05-27-2007 01:58 PM

Baseball is a thinking persons sport.

I think basketball is really really really boring. Something about big guys grinding their asses into another mans crotch just doesnt do it for me. :disgust

I can't watch either sport on television but I must give it to the NHL...If you go to a hockey game, you're guaranteed to have a good time..

Watching baseball is for genuine idiots. It is hands down the most boring sport inthe world to WATCH. The sport itself is great fun, but god fucking damn is it terrible to be a spectator. Hockey on the other hand, even a slower game, still has more than enough action to keep my attention throughout an entire game...

tornell 05-27-2007 03:47 PM

hockey :)

Horny Dude 05-27-2007 03:49 PM

I like them both, but I do not get into it till the season is almost coming to a close. I really think they should shorten the baseball season, it would get more people interested in it. How are they going to care where when they have 120 games to go till the world series.

My pick is soccer. That is a boring game to watch. I still don't understand how you can end a game at 0-0! What was the point of playing.

Miss Munki 05-27-2007 03:51 PM

Hockey kicks the shit outta baseball...

Well Dunn 05-27-2007 03:57 PM

obivousley your not a fan of either, so why bother watching it enough to think its boring. I think soccer is the most boring sport ever (because im not a fan obviousley) but im sure 10000000s of migrant workers will beg to differ, GOOOOAL

BucksMania 05-27-2007 03:59 PM

I get what your saying and everything, but you cant just shorten/lenghthen a professional sports season, not just because of tradition etc. but because of records. The past two times the home run record was beaten it was done so in a longer season (maris played a shorter season I believe, but I know ruth did). Mcquire did it in more games, and bonds did it in just as many games as mcguire, so obviousley if you short the season to 120 theres rarely going to be a recod broken. Even career records would stay up longer. Some fans just watch sports to see records fall.

Hockey live is a great time for sure. Especially minor hockey where the fighting is still in play a bit more.

Playoff NHL hockey is absolutely insane live. Even on TV if you got HD

northboy 05-27-2007 04:29 PM

soccer is the most boring sport BY FAR, jesus christ, that shit is bad. NHL PLAYOFF hockey is by far the best sport, physically it's the toughest sport in the world, upper and lower body.

99.99% of the world disagree with you, well done :thumbsup

and hockey being the toughest sport in the world... well, guess you don't see a lot of sports, right? Not that it matters if some sport is though or not, but what you're saying is not only unrealistic, but plain ridiculous :2 cents:

MandyBlake 05-27-2007 06:58 PM

baseball most definitely

Rochard 05-27-2007 08:34 PM

My father died when I was a baby, and my step father was from Europe and had no interest in American sports. I was a basketball star when I was in high school, and also did baseball, basketball, and track.

Even though I played sports, I never understood the interest in professional or college sports. I just don't get it.

It's like porn - Would you rather get laid or watch someone else having sex? Granted, maybe they can do it better than you and look better doing it, but watching someone else do something is just plain boring to me.

Baseball sucks. I've been to one professional baseball game in my life and it put me to sleep. I'm not kidding; I feel asleep in the stands.

I've also been to one hockey game. At least that was somewhat interesting.

Sly 05-27-2007 08:40 PM

Rochard I've seen you say that before and I sort of see where you're coming from but the overall theory just doesn't work.

Do you never watch movies? Do you never read books? Do you not watch TV at all? What about video games?

Even the most active people take enjoyment in relaxing and watching SOMETHING.

i know lots of guys like Richard who like to play sports but don't watch any. it's something you get hooked on as a kid or you don't. i remember being 6 years old and my best friend was already big into hockey and baseball, collecting cards, making scrapbooks, watching - i had no interest, just wanted to play with toy cars and trucks. then the next year I joined little league and minor hockey and I became addicted to following sports - reading about them, watching them, playing them - i am not the addict I once was but it's still a big part of me.

i do know that the best athletes I know never had much interest in watching sports. most sports writers and broadcasters were the kind of athletes as kids who were the last kid picked for a team or never made a high school team.

i was in the middle, good enough to make teams but not a star - i appreciate the amazing talent guys have. i have played some sports with ex-pro's and it is amazing how much better than they are than even a good weekend warrior type.
