Google now dabbling in spyware?

Maybe not spyware per se but definitely wears the uniform of spyware (to paraphrase Dave Chappelle on "whores")

is this just off typo traffic or any google search? Obviously they're making the homepage google, but do they share in those revenues as well or just typos?

I've always found all of their aditional "software" to be borderline spyware. Google toolbar is monitoring what you browse, gmail is monitoring your emails (those adds on the rigth are targeted to keywords in your inbox/mail, and attachements are scanned when you send them), they've partenered with some "spyware tools" and are installing google desktop and google toolbar without ever asking you for approval (had this happen few times, dont remember apps anymore). You can "easilly" uninstall it tho.

big corporate has been pushing for this type of search model for a long time. it's easier to buy their way to the top than provide usable interesting content. no surprises here.
