Need help: SiteUptime says site is down, works fine for me

Can anybody here NOT access http://www.thepinklist.tk? I've tried from my own machine and pinged it from other sources and it seems fine, but SiteUptime still says it's down - it's all very strange.

The Walrus 05-26-2007 04:32 PM

Can I just ask where you are in the world? Also, the 404 seems very weird - I can understand if the server was offline, but for the page to be accessible to me and give a 404 to you is very strange...

Northeast USA. Hope it helps.

Thanks very much. Just fired a support ticket off to my host to see what's going on. It's a bit of a shame if this is their problem, I've only just transferred to them after some recommendations. :disgust

I clicked it again and the site loaded. Just VEEEERY slowly.

woj 05-26-2007 05:10 PM

Hmm. I'm not sure if any of this might be related to a certain twat in Asia who keeps requesting the non-existant page "serve.php" from my site every few minutes or so...

It's unlikely to be the domain, as it has been fine in the past, although I'll look into it. As for the amount of times I've argued with people over the domain - it isn't a free .tk domain; it's fully paid for and has full DNS capabilities and access, so it is a "normal domain".

Just as an update, I've done a quick bit of tweaking with some of the DNS settings and was wondering if some of the helpful people that tested it yesterday could kindly test it again today to see if the load time has improved? It'd be greatly appreciated if you could. :thumbsup

Tar very much. It seems it's better to use dot.tk's custom DNS service than it is to use my own host's nameservers.

directfiesta 05-27-2007 08:49 PM

loads fine ( montreal, canada)

directfiesta 05-27-2007 08:51 PM

but you have a dns server off-line:

Error fetching SOA from NS04.DOT.tk [207.36.228.218], request timed out. Probably DNS server is offline.
DNS server NS02.DOT.tk[217.68.243.18] is alive and authoritative for domain thepinklist.tk
DNS server NS01.DOT.tk[202.125.44.174] is alive and authoritative for domain thepinklist.tk
DNS server NS03.DOT.tk[66.36.253.199] is alive and authoritative for domain thepinklist.tk
3 server(s) are alive
DNS server NS04.DOT.tk failed and will be dropped from other tests

I just tried it here in Atlanta and it loaded instantly, but I think that your host is fucking up, someone hacked your site and put the worst background ever on there

Big_Red 05-27-2007 09:00 PM

pulled up fairly quick for me in the los angeles area.

Thanks for the information, I'll take a quick look into it with dot.tk.

All jokes aside, do you seriously think the background is that bad? I only really did it in striped black and grey so that it would match in with the top navigation bar. I did take a quick look into some colour surveys a few weeks ago, because I was thinking of changing it to a lighter colour scheme, but in the end decided to leave it as it was; should I have changed it?
