Why is GFY loading so slow from time to time?

    Why is GFY loading so slow from time to time?

    I know they're using the best host out there.. and these pages are pretty simple (as in not heavy) so a somewhat simple setup should be able to pull this off easily..

    Lensman, how about upgrading those C64's running this place?

              its off n on for different people man, depends on the plugins youre running and the connection youre running the area of the map youre on....time of day...routers....everything

              can even be depending on what thread yorue reading...how many other people are reading it or posting or loading in it.....

                      This site is always slow for me. Not sure why. I post on another VBulletin board that has 10 times the posts and 10 times the posters on at one time and it's NEVER slow.

                      I love this place like everyone else here, so it's just a matter of dealing with it.

                                      to me its the slowest site i visit, yet i visit anyway.

                                      i dont see why they just dont upgrade the hardware or switch to a new host that can help them with a set up that can handle the load better?

                                                  No bitching, no crying. Just stating there's still an intermittent problem. I have no doubt they're aware of it already but if not, there it is.

                                                      You nailed it. Sometimes I post a thread and its so slow I say fuck it and close the browser and leave.
                                                      No doubt there are many less threads and visitors are staying not as long because of this.

                                                          That's why I always have multiple tabs open, each with a different thread. When I reply to one thread, I go to the next tab and let the replied-to thread take its sweet time to load. I can read the other tab while waiting.

                                                          GFY survival techniques. Learn them.
