Just Saw Pirates Of The Caribbean 3

Okay, if you liked the first two you'll like this one.

It's lonnnnnnnnnnnnnng and bounces around to the point
where you forget the multiple subplots but it makes up
for it in special effects big time.

This movie might break all records and be the first $200 million
box office getter for the four day weekend Memorial Day take.

It's like 2 hours 40+ minutes so if you bring the kids prepare for it.

GatorB 05-25-2007 06:47 PM

Yeah I read a lot of reviewers didn't like it much because it contained things like PLOT and STORYLINE. I doubt it's very hard to keep up on who wants what.

DOCTOR 30 05-25-2007 07:17 PM

Well it's lonnnnng and convoluted. Unless you saw the first two you would only think this was a Scooby Doo episode on crack.

It's really a rich, high flying adventure with some good laughs. It does have an ending which suggests there might be a Pirates 4.

Considering how much money this movie franchise makes you can bet Disney ain't gonna let it get away with just 3 movies.

btw Keith Richards as Jack Sparrow's father is hilarious.

What idiot would go see this one without seeing the first 2? before part 2 came out I went out and rent the first one so I would know who the characters are and how they fit in the story.

By the way it made $17 million just last night just on late showings and only about 70% of the theaters that are going to show it had sneak peak showings last night. This may just break Spiderman 3 recent record.

DOCTOR 30 05-25-2007 07:56 PM

Spider-man 3 opened 3 days. Pirates 3 has 4 days including Thursday. It'll break records for sure even with the lukewarm reviews.

The characters are so well loved now people will just show up to see them.

first of all to all theaters had Thrusday showings. Those that did had ONE showing maybe 2. Not the 4-5 most theaters usually have. So I would count Thursday as a whole day.

I loved the first two, and own both dvds. Can't wait to see this one. Thanks for the review.

Not the case with all the theatres. Some had screenings all day Thusday. The El Capitan, the premier Disney theatre right down the street from me not only showed the movie all day and night Thursday but even had a 3 movie marathon. Some theatres also had 3 movie marathons.

I didn't know they still had marathons nowadays but they seem to be growing in popularity. There's a huge Star Wars all six movies marathon going on here in Los Angeles this weekend. 12-14 hours of Star Wars! Jeez!

I heard it was better than 1 but not as good as 2.

Kind of ironic since many people think the first is better than the 2nd. Kind of like Spiderman everyone has different tastes, I liked the 3rd one.

Pipecrew 05-25-2007 10:34 PM

I was forced to go, i never gave a shit about 1 or 2, so trying to follow this was not easy at all. I could not wait for it to be over.

Casa Nova 05-25-2007 10:35 PM

I'm going to check out the movie tomorrow, I'm not a huge fan of the series, but they were decent. Hopefully i take some entertainment out of it either way.

I would not recommend seeing this movie without seeing the first 2. Or at least the 2nd since it is a direct continuation of the 2nd one.

The craftsmanship of this movie is second to none. Just brilliant special effects and makeup, costumes, sets.

When the big action starts you'll never forget it. The final battle scene is memorable for sure.

It ain't Moby Dick but it's a comedy that's why.

You really liked the 3rd one? Did you like Blade 3?

I've never seen blade 2 or 3. Not my thing. yes I liked Spiderman 3. I know things like plot and character development are not what most people like.
Most people now prefer some generic "hero" that goes on to kill dozens of generic bad guys with lots of mindless blood and gore with little plot to get in the way of all the "action"

Show me any character development in any movies by Arnold and Stallone or Vin Deisel or other musleheads? Hmmmmm.

Are you 12?

Sorry I just checked you just turned 29. Still a child.

Horny Dude 05-25-2007 11:36 PM

I just got back from it and was not happy with it at all. The effects were great, but you can not just go on that alone. The story was awful (Yes I saw 1 & 2) every time they were meeting it was to shaft one another. I finally gave up on trying to figure it out and just watch it as an action flick. The characters just gave me nothing to like about them. It did have some funny parts I will say that. The part with Jack out in the middle of no where was way too long. In all I give it 2 1/2 stars out of four.

They did have the long trailer for the Transformers and that one looks like it will kick ass.

BTW Kiera knightly was HOTTTT!!!:winkwink:
