FUCK VISTA! Formatting my laptop and getting XP on it

Today I got pissed off when my Vista on my DV9000 series laptop froze on me. Fuck it, am installing XP right now.

HP has very poor driver support for Vista, especially for the 7600 Go videocard. Maybe some day I'll upgrade, but probably not in the next 2 years

Ravage 05-25-2007 09:02 AM

:thumbsup

Fuck Vista

fallenmuffin 05-25-2007 09:04 AM

lol sounds about right. Vista is shit

XP and Fedora for me.

royaljelly2 05-25-2007 09:04 AM

yeah, a lot of people are just installing XP on their PC.
They are selling all new PC's with Vista. I think it shoudl be a choice.

sumphatpimp 05-25-2007 09:05 AM

tony286 05-25-2007 09:07 AM

it compiles - ship it

It's Microsoft's motto

LiveDose 05-25-2007 09:13 AM

When something from Microsoft actually works I stick with it. I have no interest in moving to Vista from XP either...

The Duck 05-25-2007 09:15 AM

I will wait another year before I get vista

dig0 05-25-2007 09:15 AM

I might just get a Mac next time and upgrade my desktop for gaming needs

Iron Fist 05-25-2007 09:16 AM

I will wait until XP is no longer supported - Vista is a nightmare!

dig0 05-25-2007 12:47 PM

FUCK FUCK FUCK FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKKK!!!!

So I formatted my laptop, all good installed a new version of XP and what da yaaa know, HP doesn't have any ethernet drivers for XP for this model. None of the compatiable ones work.

Niiiceee.

rapmaster 05-25-2007 12:48 PM

I've had no real problems with vista, XP seems so old fashion to me now.

KILL_FRENZY 05-25-2007 01:00 PM

hell yeah fuck vista :thumbsup at least until all programs will migrate to vista

Dirty F 05-25-2007 01:10 PM

Vista is by far the best OS so far (by Microsoft). Not a single problem running it!

Mr. Mojo Risin 05-25-2007 01:16 PM

Vista works reasonably well for me, but I'm still mainly using XP, because a few apps/hardware devices don't work yet(on Vista) and it hogs more resources than xp. It's the future though and maybe in 6 months - 1 year I will be using it primarily.

Peaches 05-25-2007 01:17 PM

I have a Vaio with Vista on it. Sending it back today (because of issues with Sony, not Vista though Vista crashed at least once a day). Alienware still has laptops you can order XP on - already ordered mine :)

Jim_Gunn 05-25-2007 02:58 PM

I own seven Windows based pcs now and I have no use for upgrading to Vista either. I wonder if MS is happy with over the counter Vista sales.

geedub 05-25-2007 02:59 PM

i just bought a new pc and paid extra to have them put xp pro on it instead of vista.. how fucking hilarious is that?

So what your realizing is its the 3rd party companies not creating proper drivers and not the OS that is the actual problem eh? :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Scott McD 05-25-2007 03:19 PM

Vista is putting me off buying a new comp just now. But i do need one soon.

Pain in the ass... :disgust

Thats what everyone is having problems with. Its just easier to blam microsoft.

I have never had a single problem with Vista :)

BigPinPin 05-25-2007 04:00 PM

Just take a look at IE 7 and compare it with FF ! I am sorry but I think Microsoft doesn´t use the shit they produce at home, otherwise they would notice what crap they sell right now. Vista ? Hell, I will install it in about 1-2 years but not before.

viki 05-25-2007 04:58 PM

I did the same thing on my new laptop. It took a couple hours to get all the drivers working properly but the install is flawless now. Just google which drivers you're missing and you can install them.

Rodent 05-25-2007 05:07 PM

I know of few people who got new pcs recently that came with vista, two of the three deleted vista and put xp on it.

respect 05-25-2007 05:30 PM

why change something that works ok ?

Dirty F 05-25-2007 05:34 PM

Im a more than average computer user. As in i work on it, i use design programs, music programs, games etc and havent had 1 single problem. Why do i have the feeling that a lot of people are just too stupid to work with a new OS?

Yeah it needed a lot of tweaking before i liked it but that doesnt make it a bad product.

stickyfingerz 05-25-2007 05:37 PM

Who else remembers the crying that went on when Xp came out? lol How many people said FUCK XP 98 rocks! haha. Foolish lol. Im waiting on 2 more programs I use frequently to get updates to work well with Vista and am doing a dual boot for awhile.

I don't remember that time, because I was using NT while the others were fucked by 95/98. After that I went to Win2K while other were fucked with WinMe and buggy release of XP. On only then XP got it's 2nd service pack and m4 stopped support of Win2k I moved to XP. As far as I know, m$ is going to support XP till 2011, so I have at least 3 years to enjoy the good and sable OS and don't worry about anything :winkwink:

aico 05-25-2007 05:50 PM

Vista spelled backwards is At Siv, which when translated to ancient Celtic means "Sticking a carrot up the horses ass".

Just bought a new Sony laptop with XP on it. Found out Best Buy has a business site that still carries XP models. Go figure?

ok, that was funny.

personally, i won't be trusting Vista on any box of mine until SP1 is released (already been announced that it is being developed i believe)..

gornyhuy 05-25-2007 08:03 PM

XP plug and plays every piece of hardware I've ever put into it... I don't understand why something as basic as ethernet drivers are failing.

Vendzilla 05-25-2007 08:11 PM

I tweaked my vista and have virtually no problems now, with the extra power I have with vista, I'll keep it

Good luck finding fully functioning drivers. The hardware was SLIGHTY changed to take advantage of vista's floating graphics system.. but just enough so XP drivers wont be fully operational.

Gumballs 05-25-2007 08:38 PM

Vista is too damn new and many bugs to work out yet. Windows XP or Linux.

notabook 05-25-2007 08:47 PM

Vista is eyecandy, that's it. If I wanted to use a pretty OS I'd be using a mac. The annoyances are abound in Vista too... most of the "advanced" security features you have to disable just to get a usable OS. The hassles just are not worth it imo. Granted, XP wasn't a rock-solid release but I bought and used XP essentially from the first retail week it was released, after playing around with different builds months before. Vista? Fuck it, I’ve used it and absolutely detest it. If Vista gets better in a year I'll consider it, but for now there is no incentive whatsoever for me to upgrade.

jryan89 05-25-2007 09:24 PM

vista sucks and so does bill g@tes!

Gingo. That's exactly what i tell my clients too when they are crying about the upgraded OS.

That's another thing my clients hear out of my mouth a lot lol. But it's true. The OS is fine aside from one common glitch. When the computers, laptops especially due to more limited graphics capabilities, go to screen savers or to sleep mode and you get back to your desktop there's a chance of explorer "half" crashing and the entire windows tray bar disappearing.

I'm confident that once more "big box" store computers and laptops start carrying way better integrated graphics cards that the problem will be resolved though because of how all graphics in Vista are an actual layer.. or "program" as some could say that runs atop the operating system itself as oposed to being integrated into the kernal like all OS' prior to Vista.

I explain that to customers and how to get the drivers running smooth and alternatives to the computer manufacturer's drivers base that make a world of difference. They leave happy and loving Vista :)

Hmmmm, I remember those days

I installed XP and was never happier in my life. After WinMe that crashed all the time, XP seemed to be God.

King Adam 05-25-2007 11:15 PM

Smart move. I'm not sure why anyone would waste their time with such a new OS. Not worth it. Maybe at the end of the summer.

That's pretty much the right idea. Vista looks nice and all, but it's nice ready for prime time.

I'm happy using a Mac.

I can't say it looks nice either. The OS must be fast, look straight and reliable. The new visual interface of Vista is just boring for my eyes.

dig0 05-26-2007 05:20 AM

Ok, so after couple of hours configuring which driver would go on XP on this vista-optimized laptop, I am set. And it NEVER worked faster then now.

On Vista, all it took was 2 video conversions and you couldn't do anything else, just had to wait. Now I'm editing 3 videos and installing a game.
