CMS SHOWDOWN: Which CMS is your favorite, and why? (Drupal, Joomla, or Wordpress)

I haven't wasted my time with Drupal. I get the feeling that many of you use Wordpress, which is more of a blogging script. Joomla is more of a full powered content management system. I use Joomla for all my sites now, including my latest one joomlawebmasters.com

Which CMS is your favorite?

fris 05-24-2007 01:35 PM

all 3 of them are bloated, but it depends what you are using them for, wordpress out of all 3 because of all the plugins, i have my own custom cms i use thats lightweight, only uses 6 sql queries for the main index, and 4 for pages.

I love Joomla. Used to be a Postnuke user, but Joomla won me over.

Looks like that turned out to be a successful venture.

wordpress for blogs

joomla for anything else

i wouldn't call wordpress a cms though

Pornwolf 08-16-2007 01:30 PM

Joomla is my favorite but if Wordpress is to be called a CMS I would say it wins the award due to it's amazing selection of useful plugs.

Joomla is the shit

I learned with mambo/joomla. I stick with it because I have already written a bunch of my own componants and modules.

Sultry_Selenia 08-16-2007 02:49 PM

I've messed around with Joomla a bit, but I've never really needed that much flexibility for a site. I mostly use Wordpress and Snews.

Sansa 08-16-2007 02:56 PM

Drupal all the way.

TheSenator 08-16-2007 03:19 PM

I am still hacking away with Joomla.

Jace 08-16-2007 03:25 PM

oh shit, hold on

is this the real TurboFace?

Young 08-16-2007 03:32 PM

LOL @ the date of this thread.

Anyways....it's a good question.

Like Fris said 3 months ago Joomla and Drupal are over stuffed with crap most people don't need.

I also have a custom solution that I built myself. No better way to learn PHP then to create your own CMS.

OG LennyT 08-16-2007 04:04 PM

another successful Turbo venture.. LOL

gwkg 08-16-2007 05:33 PM

Here is a good read on comparing the two...

Even though its on the joomla forum, it leans drupal.

Klen 08-16-2007 05:39 PM

Serendipity.It do what i need.

msan 08-16-2007 06:22 PM

JOOMLA JOOMLA JOOMLA!!!! I'm currently using it on my site. Makes updating easy!

_Rush_ 08-16-2007 06:24 PM

WordPress will do anything. I'm pretty sure you can pay a half-assed programmer and he can modify the tables to run a complete paysite.

teg0 08-16-2007 06:27 PM

I like wordpress, with drupal as 2nd.
