think about it this way.

the entire solar system is a bunch of rocks spinning in space, some in orbit, some not.

Inertia continues until it hits something.

with all the shit thats been going on for the last year, nothing would surprise me if we get hit within the next year or so. Think back to a year ago today...who would have ever thought that 18 days from today a year ago all the shit would have happened...9/11, anthrax, suicide bombings, and all the other stupid shit...its crazy to think that a year ago today you could have flown on an airplane with a knife in your pocket, and today when you sit in first class, they give you a metal fork, and metal spoon, but a plastic knife...now if the planes were hijacked with metal forks, you would could still bring knifes on planes.

so to answer your question...if things stay as fucked up as the last year, i wouldnt be surprised if we get fucked up soon from some space shit.

Dude rocks burn into our atmosphere all the time.

Yes it can, will and does.

The Moon is full of craters because its been battered over the years by things crashing into it.

Fortunately the rocks are not large enough to do any damage by the time the even get close to Earth.

We have a datarecorder on a large asteroid right now watching its movements for its arrival, and have been watching this one in particular for years.

I heard the goverment organization in charge of checking the outer space shit out is highly under funded and most discoveries and found by amateurs.

They say just one of those rocks that hit jupiter some years back where big enough to destroy this planet completely
