I'm interested in boxing. Anyone do it?

I'm considering signing up for a boxing bootcamp. 6 weeks of training, 5 days a week. No drinking/smoking. Am I out of my mind?

I'm a webmaster, so no, I'm not currently in shape.

I did something very similar a few years back and yes, it is very hard work but you get in shape and learn a lot of good techniques (self defense) that you can use even if you don't box competitively

I train MMA but I go to a separate boxing gym to train stand up. I had to take some time off because I injured my shoulder in an unrelated accident but as soon as I heal up I'll be back in the gym. I would seriously practice jumping rope before you go, since that is a staple of any boxing training. If you've never done it before it can be tougher than you think. Which boot camp are you considering entering?

It's incredibly good exercise.

If you saw how crooked my nose is you wouldn't want to box.. It broke again and again and again and.. I don't think I had what it took to be a contender :-)

3rd Street Gym in San Francisco

Has anyone tried it?

Much better off going to 3 x hour classes per week than an intensive "camp". You won't learn shit that way. Fighting is redefining your muscle reflexes. It takes time as much as practice.

Good luck though :2 cents:
