Partnering with content... Good or bad idea?

We are about to shot a girl for a new single girl site we are about to start and instead of flat money she asks 10% of the site profits or 15% of the site turnover, whatever is greater.

Is it a good idea to give her a percentage of the site income or just tell her to get lost and get another girl?

What problems could arise if she gets a percentage of site income instead of flat money for the shots?

15% of the site turnover will erode your margins too much for the site to be profitable. If you pay 60% to affiliates, 15% for processing and 15% to the girl that just leaves 10% for you guys to pay for your salaries and hosting.

I think the 10% of site profits is fair.

it's a good idea, if You give her pursentage she will work harder/better, because she would be filling, that makes her more money.

Please do. Hopefully they steal from you like you did from others. :)

Agreed.

Find other ways to compensate her. Give her a free trip to Maui with a friend or some other kind of thing it the site does well. As for the shoots...Just pay her fairly for them.

What he said..

I had that experience and it wasnt a good one.. She came equiped with a sensative ass wipe of a boyfriend anyhow..

I would put her on a base salary with a minimum % let her be part of it I'm sure you will get a better product...

BucksMania 05-20-2007 04:28 PM

if she is on % she may want to stick her nose too much in the biz side of the things

SkeetSkeet 05-20-2007 05:31 PM

yeah be careful ... she does the shoots and doesn't get paid "a reasonable amount of money for each shoot" technically she still owns the copyright ... read up on copyright law ;)

i wouldnt if i were you

Partnering with a girl and relying on her promises is dumb. Too many girls quit pretty fast when their huge expectations don't match up with reality, or they get a new boyfriend, a new job, whatever.

Pay her per shoot and try to build up a huge stock of content as fast as possible, rock solid contract, you own everything...if things go wrong, you still got enough content to keep the site up and running for a long time or you can just sell all the content.

i wouldn't partner. if you can afford to pay her outright after every shoot, do that.
