It is raining a bit, may mess up the track.
I don't follow the ponies like I used to so I don't know which are mudders.

I did notice that just I came back in the room an announcer said that in an earlier race a horse stumbled and another jockey bailed to avoid an accident and I THINK they said it was Curlin's jockey. Hitting the dirt when you have to ride in a couple of hours may hurt.

It's pretty dry right now, there was a little rain earlier but mostly overcast. It's probably going to be a fast track.

Curlin's jockey looks okay, but who knows.

A couple of announcers are holding up umbrellas but it looks to be a very fine mist, as you said. Would take a gullywasher to mess up that track.

I picked the top three in the Derby but in the wrong order...no bets, though.

Back in the day I usually bet cheap and spent my money on oysters and booze.

However, D Wayne Lucas used to come through for us as a trainer back in the day at our rural track. Some of my friends were big betters.

Pick your longshot for the cheap bet.

Looking like Curlin which was my pick here and also my pick in the Derby. He kicked ass in the Arkansas Derby and is a baby. Hardly raced at all. WOOHOO!!!

Edit HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) ? The Kentucky Derby has a new contender ? maybe even a new favorite.
Curlin stormed down the stretch to another runaway victory Saturday, winning the Arkansas Derby by a record 10½ lengths. The chestnut colt has been overlooked on the Kentucky Derby trail because of his inexperience, but trainer Steve Asmussen expects that to change after this performance in Oaklawn Park's final Derby prep.

That was an amazing photo finish!
I have to say those jockeys look like walking skeletons.
That must be incredible pressure to stay under a certai weight cap.
