Canadian Dollar hits 30 year high
Dammit.. :(
|
The good ole days are long gone :(
|
Fuck... I can't believe how much money I've lost because of that fuckwad in the whitehouse.. I SOOO yearn for the days of 1.5
|
Harper's minority government is making it work too well, and meanwhile Bush is flushing the US economy down the john.
|
Wow...when the Canadian Dollar catches up, it's time to either get scared or pissed.
That is the equivalent of Al Sharpton getting beat by O.J. Simpson in a popularity poll. |
Do we really have to wait till 2008?

If you look at the exchange rate graph, from the day Bush announced they were going to war in Iraq, the exchange rate started to drop. As the war has continued and the US economy has grown worse etc., the war has brought on the demand for oil from other places, like Alberta.. Which has improved our economy... So we've been double hit with our economy improving and theirs going down... Fuck me.... |

Harper is doing a great job with Canada/Quebec relations, which in turn eventually creates an atmosphere of confident spending, driving the economy in the right direction. Couple that with some nice Paul Martin economics from the past and Geo W blowing the American bank and you have a strong Canadian dollar. |

As for anything else "Harper" related, it depends. Being he doesn't have the full reins, anything he "claims" he's done has to be looked at in terms of how much he's had to compromise and which of the other groups have had their say as well. Quite frankly, I'd almost prefer that we allways have minority governments.. It makes them work together which is what government should be IMO. |
sucks to be Canadian, heh
|
yea CANADA STAND UP
|
We should start making money in Euros that will still convert nice for us canadians;) time to look for european sponsors
|
dollars really sucks now

Granted, I'd be snapped if I lived by another country's currency and that currency was going down the shitter due to exchange rates and whatnot ....
But.... What the fuck are you people complaining about again? |

I had to bump this thread because Today it once again surpassed Its previous mark when this original post was put up! Today it hit 94.59 U.S. cents, and economists are predicting that by as early as next year that it will be trading at par with the US Dollar & even surpass at 1.04 in 2 years, I heard this on the news today. Looks like alot of people are going to be losing money in this industry and possibly jobs if the dollar keeps rising...

I remember cashing affiliate checks @ $1.58 those were the days. I moved from that icebox when it hit $1.20. |
Back in 05 I remember posting a link to a financial site where a study claimed by 07 us to can would pretty much be equal.
Bunch of GFY'ers laughed.... If only we'd be taxed at the same % of americans it would be ok but in Quebec with the exchange and the bracket I fall into it's really not fun to have to change lifestyle to adapt :-( |
Nice. shame the US Dollar sucks so much :(
|
end of the year, it'll be on par~!
|
yep, parity by the end of the year. :(
|
maybe it will hit before the end of this year ,
Today yahoo rate with USD=CND is 1.0546 . Bank rate will give u about 1.0389 .... |

fuck sakes, this sucks :(
|
Yup... run away... par is about a week away, depends how quickly the bank of canada raises interest rates. .25% more and the canadian dollar will equal or pass the US dollar.
The faster Bush gets out of office, the fast this shit will stop. This is truly painful to watch. |
Fuck me, I should just take the hit and convert it all to CDN now .. it's not like I'm ever going to spend or invest the money in America anyway.
:(:(:( |
