Basketball fans, your input...

I saw Golden State do it a few times. Wednesday night Phoenix did it. Now I'm sitting here watching New Jersey do it.

Team will be down... say 10-15 points, second half. They'll make a great run. Pounding the paint and just go on a huge streak, tie the game or come damn close. Then what happens? The 3's go flying. Plenty of time left. Miss after miss, they continue to launch from downtown.

Why? Why would you abandon the plan that got you back in the game in the hopes of nailing a 3? Makes no sense to me.

Any input?

for a change? :)

they get excited and just start tossing shit up.....i'd blame the coach for not taking a timeout and calming his team down...

I've played bball my whole life and that's the way some players think. They think if you're down you HAVE to start jacking up 3 after 3 after 3 even if that is NOT what got you back in the game. I've torn strips off more then one fuckhead as a player and a coach. If the stupid teams would continue doing what got them back in the game, (attacking the rim is normally what brings them back), they'd win.

Just look at guys like Vince Carter, he is unstoppable when he feels like playing and attacks the rim, but my grandma could stop him when he starts jacking up fade away 3's...

Vince Carter = choke artist.

I still don't think Cleveland is that good of a team. Detroit is going to stomp them.

I'm a Detroit fan, and Cleavland took us to 7 games last year.
La Bron handled us like he has been playing 10 years.
I'm scared, but We build Championships there. It's our new industry after autos

The 3-pointer is one of the most enticing shots in basketball - mostly if you play the game. Most teams live and die by the 3.

In Nets' case id say its all about Lebron. When he had to sit down with 4 fouls at the beginning of 3rd quarter, the Nets were able to comeback. Cavs were much easier to defend without him.
When he returned to the rink in 4th, Nets had to adjust back to guard him. That means double or triple teaming when he had the ball, and also means more space for his teammates. Therefore they were left for an open 3 pt opportunities more often, and knocking down those shots relatively easily.
Nets couldnt do anything with it and fell apart quickly.

Yeah and Vince Carter is a fraud.

Nets Demise

How can the Nets go 6.5 minutes in 4th
without scoring a basket? Hello! Its called
drive to the basket and at least get some
foul shots out of it. Jason missing 2 of 3
foul shots at the end? I think Kidd and
Carter are free agents next year. Should
be interesting to see the complexion of
that team next year.

Detroit is too deep for Lebron to handle. Come
on, you have CWebb coming of the bench?
That combined with their experience (although
they should have finished Chicago in 5)
should take them to the Finals baby!

You're looking at it from the wrong angle. Of course when the Nets double Lebron it leaves Marshal and others wide open. What I'm saying is the Nets started popping threes instead of driving. Driving is where they lit up. Lebron on or off, they can still drive with one of the best point guards in the league and so called "super star" Vince Carter.

They should have traded one of them when they had the chance. Maybe this summer. A lot of teams could use an experienced point guard.

well, you have teams that rely on 3 pointers as one of their weapons (Spurs, Bulls) but other teams are forced to do that when defense is adjusted to avoid penetration and easy points in the paint. Take Suns-Spurs yesterday, it was a Tim Duncan block fest, so Suns had to fire from downtown when they usually make most of their points close to the rim. Then you have attack systems where you go to the low post or penetrate to make all the D close on you and then you get the ball out for an open player. There are lots of posibilities, but lately teams that are reliable from outside the arc are the ones getting the games.

If, as many expect, the finals are Spurs-Pistons, be ready for LOADS of 3 points attempts
