in the phillipines its a helluva lot cheaper for anything compared to the states.

give me a breakdown on what 6750.00 PHP money gets you, which is roughly 150.00 USD.

just curious as to the cost of living and other stuff there.

It's all relative, but you can get a bottle of local beer "San Miguel" for about 15 Peso

a bottle of san miguel at a beach bar in san diego is 3.00 or 135 phillipine

It's about that in a club, but can go up from there.
As i said it's all relative and where you want to hang out, it can be as expensive or as cheap as you like here, Heineken is going to cost about 450p a can in a decent restaurant.

how much is an apartment

The price of apartments would of course depend on location, but one thing about living there... they stuff several people in one bedroom. Seriously, the guy working for me sleeps in a bedroom with 3 other people, he said everyone does it.

it will rent you a pretty nice 1 BR apt in dumaguete city.

6750P would get you:

A nice room for the night at the Blue Rock resort on the beach at Subic Bay (2000P)

AND

A REAL steak dinner - Tommo imports his beef from Australia (900P)

AND

20 Ice Cold San Miguel beers (600P)

AND

2 girls for the night (and most of the next day) from the Midnight Rodeo just over the hill (2400P)

AND

A Box or 2 of Viagra or Cialis (Real or not, the placebo effect works) from a vendor (600P)

AND

A copy Rolex or Omega watch from a beach vendor before you leave (250P).

well for $400, you can get a very nice up and down 2 bedroom place in makati

for $50-100, nice studio type room

I paid 20,000 pesos a month for my 1 bedroom place in Quezon City. Was pretty nice, had a pool on the roof, weight room, security.

Our maid gets paid P7k or about $140/month. $40 of that is her food allowance for a whole month so her real take home money is $100/month. She is considered a VERY well paid maid.

The pollution is awful, the weather is a bitch but if you made minimum wage (US) here, you can live like a king. :2 cents:

well stay away from manila (all mega city all over the world are polluted, btw), go to suburb area or nearby towns

Why is pollution so bad in that general part of the world? Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, etc.

Food and services are cheaper. Even more so out of the city.

Hardware, Electronics and Furnishings are all same price or higher compared to USA. Gas is probably the same or more expensive.

There are lots of good places for rent on craigslist.org There was a badass condo on there for a while, was damn cheap, but was 4th floor with no elevator.

Lol Shey - eventhough I think your maid is pretty good, thanks to some good training, you're over paying. I got a maid through my girlfriends mom for 3k a month and she eats what we make, so about 4k a month :)

Apartments are all relative, you can get shitty condos in any of the major cities in Manila (Makati / Ortigas / Quezon) for cheap, and nice ones will always cost more.

Differences in renting is this, for the most part, they require terms like 12 year lease, 3 mo down / 3 advance and 9 post dated checks for decent condos. Cash out front, but you can always negociate these down.
