Im curious. Lately I have seen some sites which his traffic grow a 3000% in only 2-4 weeks. for example check this

And there are a lot of similar examples. I am really curious about it, cause is not a tgp and for non-tgp sites is more hard get this amount of traffic. some comments?

It's possible when you buy traffic for this site or send your own traffic from your other sites to this site. I see some trades on this site too.

sorry to segue the topic a bit, but I am wondering about how alexa comes up with their traffic figures.... is it within the realm of possibility that two separate sites that in reality have equal amounts of traffic be ranked very differently by alexa from their own data sources?

I mean is it possible to optimize for alexa?

I agree with Yahook and jetjet; because there is no way to check how the stats are made with Alexa ... If Alexa is using a script as to display a graphic on a persons website then each time a web page is loaded the Alexa graphic is called and is marked as a new visit... This is a guess .

A big promo would make it work. Load's of advertising at the same time. A good banner at a VERY big site. Advertising at TV and you will get a bomb of hits. But it will cost you.

Also Maybe if it's something people talk about. Mouth to Mouth can bomb your site with hits :)

Yes, Alexa isn't the gospel by any means. But it is possible to get those big increases in traffic. Properly puchased media or even just a good press release can get increases like that. :)

Ok, I looked at the site a bit and some of the other info available and the key to this was not money, or purchased traffic, or word of mouth.

In fact it was done without even using much bandwidth.

Don't really want to give away the secret (all though I wouldn't feel too awful bad about it because he has guba and aff links up) but it is pretty slick how he did it.
