Star Trek XI.....Nooooo!!!! Casting news

http://movies.ign.com/articles/767/767783p1.html

I don't know what to think about this news. It's several months old
but jeez. Why do they have to go back and restart the Star Trek stories? Why not just continue where they left off with the Borg and Dominion Wars???

GatorB 05-15-2007 11:27 AM

If you've seen the recent lack of box office for the last coule of start Trek films you'll see why they aren't continuing with the Next Generation cast. Besides didn't Data die in the last one? And I think Patrick Stewart would move on to other things.

I think Matt Damon would make a good Kirk. He certainly favors him compared to anyone else. My problem is that this is supposed to be about the time BEFORE they were on Enterpise, yet Damon is the same age as Shatner was when the series began.

Scot Bakula like COMANDER and war in FUTURE he saw once (Guy from Temporal Cold War show him) where everybody take a fight (even Xindi on their side) against those dirty fuckers from shity realm, that would be cool MOVIEEEEEEEEEE!

The first two Next Generation movies made bank. It's only when the producers went cheapskate with the following stories that were nothing more than tv episode extentions did things go to shit.

You have to really work at fucking up a Star Trek movie and usually that comes from being cheap, egotistical and sloppy.

If they had done a Borg Dominion war and had more of the cast from Voyager and Deep Space 9 it would have made some money. Instead they drop the story and go back into the past to a point in the federation when no one cared.

Data did indeed die, but they have a solution for that with the lesser model left behind.

I'm surprised, well not really, that they're going for a Star Trek re-invent movie. Ever since Gene passed on, they just have not been able to breathe life into ST anymore.

Phoenix 05-15-2007 11:59 AM

I would pay money to be in a star trek movie

cant wait for it...i love every show that came out...even Enterprise

notabook 05-15-2007 12:00 PM

As long as Rick Berman has no part in the movie, it will be good. Everything Berman touches turns to liquid dog shit. FUCK YOU RICK BERMAN, FUCK YOU!

I've never seen a single episode of Star Trek....

pornguy 05-15-2007 12:26 PM

I have not seen hardly any of the next generation shows, and NEVER saw the other one., or deep space 9.

But I do like the movies in general

Jumpin' catfish! For the first time ever Notabook said something of merit! Well at least what the majority of Star Trek fans say as well as a few actors from the show.

DOCTOR 30 05-15-2007 02:11 PM

Each Star Trek series had it's moments. Enterprise was the least for me.

Voyager is my favorite of the new incarnations because it was more of like the real Star Trek where no man has gone before instead of going to the same places every week.

Voyager had some real eerie villains too like the Vidians. They were icky to the max. The Borg episodes were fucking awesome no end.

DS9 was the most brutal tv show I've ever seen. Death never ended on that show. People were killing each other like there was no tomorrow and as soon as they got out of one jam the would step knee deep into more shit. The Dominion was cool as fuck. Lotsa comedy too when Quark would visit his home planet and visit his mother. They even had Iggy Pop star on an episode that was funny as fuck. DS9 was very profound.

Next Generation was exciting no end. The Borg episodes were awesome. The Lore episodes got tiresome after the first one. Lots of fun and the cast was what made me watch the show.

It's just that with a big ensemble cast you have to pay em' more each movie til the point you can't afford to do a movie anymore.

I?ll admit I liked DS9 to a point? but it wasn?t Star Trek. It was a fucking disgrace to the Star Trek name. Voyager, as bad as it was, at least had a more ?trekie? feeling to it. I consider it a golden piece of shit, certainly above DS9 but it was still no TNG. Enterprise? JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, it was like watching TV with glass in my eyes. I kept waiting for the series to get better. I waited. And waited. Then waited some more. IT NEVER HAPPENED. They didn?t listen to the fans, they made the same mistakes as in Voyager and DS9 and *FINALLY* the fans started tuning out. Then they killed that gross ass show and a million Star Trek fans worldwide clapped in unison.

Rick Berman took a billion dollar franchise and took a big shit all over it, drug it through a puddle of liquid dog shit, then pissed on it with sulfuric acid. Yet even after ALL of what he did to it he couldn?t kill it. There are still fans of the trek, which is beyond amazing to me. There is even going to be a MMORPG of the trek universe lol. Oh well, I hope the franchise gets rejuvenated with this movie and we can see a new, fresh series without that assfuck Berman sitting asleep?? at the helm.

I am going to post that quote on a t-shirt or send it to Paramount.

All the friends I have that worked on those shows will be on the floor screaming and laughing.

Voyager and DS9 were nowhere near as bad as you say. I admit there were times when things went way off the rails but overall they were great series with some awesome stories and special effects and makeup.

tony286 05-15-2007 03:04 PM

looks like the casting choices would be very cool

What???? Brody as Spock??? Gad! Every movie he's been in has been lousy.

He looks more like Data than Spock.

They were liquid dogshit compared to TNG. Enough said.

EBORG9 05-15-2007 04:30 PM

You will never beat TNG. The casting was fucking awesome, the story lines were great, and Picard, and Ryker are the coolest MF's to fly the galaxy.
Counselor Troy kept the "tail factor" alive, and Warf is the fucking shit, and made me go to the Star Trek Store, here a the Hilton and buy multiple ball caps with the Flag of the Klingon empire on them.

Voyager had the best Borg stories, and when the species 8712 emerged as the only species to ever defeat the Borg, it blew my mind. Of course all hail to Jerry Ryan, for once again, keeping the "tail factor" alive and well.

Both of them had AWESOME final episodes.
If there is ever going to be a movie to bring back the thrill, combine those two casts with some sort of Space Time Continuum bullshit, throw "Q" in there for good measure, and resurrect Data through the duplicate that was found in the last movie.
I'm sure Jordie can upload his information form the Federation Computers into his positronic brain, and defeat The Borg, and the Dominion in one 3 hour, action packed, galactic, killing spree.
JMO

I love Star Trek and Star Wars (well, 4/5/6, definitely not 1-3 LOL). Each franchise is spectacular imo.

TNG was the only series i could watch. I only have one complaint about the whole series and that is ... I hated the doctor's son (wesley I think). He looked like he'd be more at home sucking dick on a klingon planet than front and center on the enterprise. I wasnted to cut my troat everytime I saw him.

I didn't like Wes all that much but he was ok, he had some good episodes. One of the later episodes when he turned into a native american or some fucking bullshit was ridiculous though. My least favorite characters on there were miles obrien and his bitch-of-a-wife keiko.

I thought Kieko was fucking Hawt! (She was kinda bitchy though)

Hot? Definitely. But a huge fucking bitch. I can completely understand why Obrien wishes he was gay and married to a dude (DS9 reference lmao).

Raven Riley Wants Me Bad 05-15-2007 07:36 PM

REMEMBER, ALL THOSE STNG CHARACTERS ARE LOOKING REALLY OLD NOW. THEY WOULD NEED TO BRING IN A NEW HOT BABE TO TAKE OVER THE "TAIL" FACTOR BECAUSE "Counselor Troy" JUST COULDN'T HAVE HELD UP OVER THE LAST 20 YEARS. JUST BRING IN A NEW "TAIL" CHARACTER AND HAVE TROY BECOME THE EMBASSADOR TYPE.
