Teacher accused of filming up 3000 skirts!
 

A SCHOOL teacher who allegedly filmed up the skirts of more than 3000 women and teenagers was released on bail by a magistrate today.

Robert Ian Drummond, 41, an English teacher at a high school in Sydney, carried out his crimes for two years using a camera carried in a plastic shopping bag, police alleged.

He was arrested when a 14-year-old girl complained to police that she had been filmed at a store in Warringah Mall.

Mr Drummond, 41, from Harbord, appeared in Manly Local Court today on one charge of committing an act of indecency on a teenager.

He was released on strict bail conditions while police investigate a mountain of footage allegedly seized from his home.

In court, police prosecutor Marco Carlon said Mr Drummond was at risk of reoffending because as a school teacher was skilled at communicating with children.

"The defendant has admitted to police in relation to the footage obtained, confirming what it contains. However, his admission came after police found the videos and from the outset the defendant showed no remorse or contrition," he said.

Defence solicitor Michelle Duncan said none of the images Mr Drummond allegedly collected showed him communicating with his victims.

Magistrate Elizabeth Corbett granted Mr Drummond bail under "very strict" conditions, including living under the supervision of his mother and not leaving her house without her.

Mr Drummond was also banned from going into shopping complexes and from having photographic or recording equipment.

The case was adjourned until June 12.

While I understand what they mean, this sounds odd...how does one really "investigate" these types of videos? It's not like they could really identify anyone if they were all upskirt videos. Is there really much to investigate?
