State of the Internet Porn Industry (Rant)
I think the fucking adult industry, as a whole, sucks ass...
Every single time you go to a "Porn site", the following occurs: Pop-up Pop-up Pop-up Promting to Download "Gator" Pop-up Pop-up Pop-up Promting to set Home Page to "XxxPorn.com" Pop-up Pop-up A fucking page that I have to cntl/alt/del to get it off my fucking screen! Then I'm back to square #1. All this to see some goddamn porn...sometimes I think it isn't even worth it anymore... I think the industry REALLY needs to re-evaluate how they conduct business. All this bullshit spam email...when you type your name in to get your name removed, they spam you from 10 other sites...it's a never-ending war of whores...it's fucking bullshit...I just wanna see some tits! I gotta go....(waiting to get flamed upon :321GFY ) |
Time for you to whip out your credit card and buy you stinking freeloader

Yea, it seems like you mooching no good godless freeloading "I deserve porn for free" bum pieces of shit really got it bad.
Of course, paysites and AVS sites don't have all that stuff, course then you couldn't mooch, and rip sites and download all the free porn you want. You would have to pay a paltry fee... Damn, I guess the state of the freeloading porn mooch is bad. Hope it gets worse. |

webmasters have to realize, surfers are your commodity, SPONSORS are your customer....a surfer is not a customer until they buy membership and then they are the customer of the sponsor..... |

I am just trying to hammer a point...I have been in the Interactive Marketing industry for over five-years, and I dispise how non-adult Internet marketing is conducted (by studying click-through traffic, no such thing as branding, blah blah blah). This whole "Internet" thing is another medium just like TV, Radio, print, etc., and needs to be treated as such. Surfing porn sites is like getting blown into a fucking tornado... How the hell am I supposed to know who to buy from, when I click a link I think is a preview, and I get blown to 5-6 other sites? By the time I am done clicking through them, I completely forgot where in the fuck I was in the first place... |

the sponsors aren't the ones putting you through 10000 hoops. why would you reject joining a website because an affiliate put you through a circle jerk? |
A surfer is a potential customer. It's up to you to make the sale.
Now, where would you buy a car? The car dealer that starts beating you with a baseball bat the moment you walk out of his door, or the one that only smiles and says "Remember to visit us again!". |

Here is how much Gator pays you...
~~~~~ To earn money, of course! This is one of the simplest and most generous affiliate programs on the Web. Just send us customers, and you'll get $0.03 for every Qualified Download. (Read our Affiliate Agreement for the fine print.) Gator products are free, helpful, and download quickly (in approximately 10 minutes with a 56K modem). You'll be earning revenue as soon as you advertise this product! ~~~~~ hmm is it worth to advertise a software that invades your privacy and you can't remove even if you do Program Uninstall, it installs it self back after a period of time. If you put a firewall that keeps log of the out going connection you'll see that Gator sends what you are doign to their system. Bah... Gator should rote in hell |
People don't like to hear it, but the most $uccessful salesmen are the aggressive ones....the ones who hustle that sale. Timeshare, cars, fucking Circuit City....the aggressive guys take home the biggest checks. |
Most people look a few times before they buy. I know I do. Another problem is that many sponsors nowadays use entrance popups. Not exactly the best way to gain the trust of a potential customer. Also important is the state of the whole business. If a surfer believes the adult industry can't be trusted, he most likely won't buy. Simple as that. |
I think a lot of webmasters, once they get traffic to play with, start introducing the bullshit just to nickle & dime people to death, instead of going for a nice steady user base. It's pretty lame but perhaps that's the temptation as a result of the way the payoffs in the industry are set up. I'm not 100% sure this is what happens, but it is what I suspect, because pop-ups and other bullshit means of making money all require a decent traffic flow to convert. |
porn is an impulse buy.... unless it's an extremely unique niche, once they're gone, they are gone...may as well make something off them. I'm not a fan of entrance consoles on payistes either, and too many consoles (from paysite exits) become ineffective too...non-adult is a perfect example of some fuckface learning javascript and not how to properly use a console. An exit console from a pay site should be "oh you didn't like my site? Try this one" Something I noticed is that an inadvertant fuckup on my part actually increased our exit console sales...I messed up the url in a console and so when the blur console would pop, it would pop to our 404 page which is our first exit console, so we had these three consoles endlessly looping upon close, with the only way out being clicking on a link. We saw a 50% increase in signups to one of the sites on that console. So, if you say that people don't buy from consoles? Wrong, they don't buy from poor consoles. You say they don't buy when trapped? These people were inadvertantly trapped and still bought. So, don't kid yourselves. I look at freesite surfers the same as I do the guys who stand at the magazine racks reading all day, but not buying a fucking thing. That's why a good store manager will say "are you going to buy that or leave?" If they left without buying, they weren't a customer anyways, just a loiterer. If they buy, they either liked the magazine or knew they had to buy to keep reading "the good stuff". |
Sky, that's really interesting that they would buy memberships and such in that situation, which was a mistake by you. While I am I relative newcommer to the webmaster side of the industry, I have been looking at online porn for however long and done some content production...
...have you changed your overall business strategy based on the result of that mistake? Another question I have.. and perhaps this isn't quite on topic but I'm going to put it here instead of it's own thread.. is influx of new webmasters and such into the industry. I've seen sites which basically tell a newcommer step by step how to build a couple sites and promote them and gain traffic. It seems to me like a magician who goes on TV and shows how he does all his tricks and illusions. Again, I'm a relative newbie, but what I've learned has come from looking at the successful sites, comparing them and including the winning characteristics into my site, combined with a little creativity and some hard work. So, how do established webmasters like yourself feel about the flood of newcommers who are trying to cash in or make a fortune overnight on the hard work that you've done to establish quality sites with quality traffic and memberships? Is it welcomed? Is it abhorred? Somewhere in between? |
