Some SAD SHIT: Email scams hit World of Warcraft
http://notadiary.typepad.com/mysticw...or_a_sack.html
I actually saw this happen this morning... Some dude sent a sack of flour for 88g COD. I searched around a bit and found the blog entry above. G ood thing I didn't fall for that scam. Quick way to fleece fellow players using a fake account, send to another account and unload to IGE.com or other places that buy game gold. Scumbags. :Oh crap |
I don't get it...

Neither do I....Probably because we're not 14 year old geeks. |

Someone is mailing items in game that are virtually worth nothing. I'm guessing there's a COD option for the receiver to pay for the item. The "scammer" is hoping someone will be stupid enough to pay for the item. Once the item is paid for the "scammer" is going to sell the gold via ige.com. Did I win? :upsidedow |

The first time I encountered this was around November 2005 on the Skullcrusher server. Was actually quite novel.

Old news, that scam has been going around for ages.
The latest one is where they email you pretending to be an NPC from Light's Hope Chapel in Eastern Plaguelands and send you a letter about the war on the Scarlet Crusade. The letter is a COD package. Pretty good scam. |
