there's no direct sound in Vista
it's all per-program so whatever program you are using you have to adjust it's settings or look in the volume mixer |
Right click the volume icon in the bottom right hand corner. Click on recording devices. Double click microphone. Click the level tab and adjust how loud it is there.

vista doesn't suck... people are just not use to the new features and settings. people said XP sucked till they got use to all the settings.

Yeah I did that. It still sucks. I checked google and a lot of other people had the same problem and couldn't fix it. The volume stays too low. I was trying to record a demo tape for my lil bro with Acoustica Mixcraft. Had to dig up my old lap top with XP and it works like a charm. I'm thinking about sticking with XP for a while. |

right click volume icon in the system tray.
select Recording Devices Select your Microphone from the Recording tab Select Properties... Make sure device is enable click Custom tab, check Mic Boost Select Level tab increase to about 80 Advance tab change the format if you llike, select apply Then open open up the Recording prorgam and record a sound clip. i had the same issue. vista doesn't suck just confusing and takes getting use too. security settings are a pain in the butt, i wasn't able to save to my C:\ root the first day. Had to call MS support, disabled all security... little to much protection for me. good for newbies though. |
.....duh

Did you try downloading new drivers for your sound card? I know creative has released a few different vista drivers for audigy series cards because they can't get their shit together. They even stated themselves that vista exposed bugs in their drivers so they keep releasing new builds. |
