...something a little more obvious?

mattz 05-12-2007 05:53 AM

It's pretty simple actually, it's called eating healthy

annaliese 05-12-2007 06:02 AM

cut any excess carbohydrates out of your diet. carbs build up around the stomach and "love handles" area if you are overloading them. =)

eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. drink a ton of water. chew your food slowly and thoroughly and drink lots of water with your meal. it will make you feel full faster.

a girl that worked for me was getting really bad headaches. i told her that she was probably dehydrated and she started drinking tons of water. she lost about 8 lbs. turns out that she needed glasses. haha.

karlm 05-12-2007 06:02 AM

Just get on with it

Completely cut out these foods: all fried food, all red meat, hot dogs, hamburger, pork, soda (regular and diet), cakes, cookies, pies.

It's the Daddy Diet.

Bad problem indeed

TheLegacy 05-12-2007 06:09 AM

DONT try and starve yourself - your body is only going to produce and store more fat cells. Buy one of those balls and do some stomach crunches. Eating is only half the problem and drinking water - but you can't substitute exercises. Even if it means going out for walks, tennis, golf whatever - there is no magic cure or way around it.

cut down (as said before) your carb intake. I usually keep mine between 50 to 60 carbs per meal. read the directions and count carbs. Also cut down on sugars too.

But i found this about exercize....
should i take word on it?
Quote:

Your fat stomach is due to fat. Working the muscle underneath with crunches can only serve to increase the muscle size, and hence your stomach size. You need to diet and exercise to lose body fat if you want to see your stomach muscles. If your gut muscles are severely out of shape, yoga, planks, pilates can help pull the muscles in somewhat, but your belly will still appear fat due to surface adipose tissue.

You can't reduce fat on one specific area by exercising the muscle underneath. Body fat distribution is genetic and you need to remove fat from everywhere to get it off your gut. Have you ever seen anyone with saggy man tits but a ripped six pack? Or what about guys who bench press all day but don't diet? They don't have striations in their chest muscles along with a fat gut. Just doesn't happen.

Sounds like a plan!

[ Nate ] 05-12-2007 08:11 AM

I've lost 63 pounds over the last several months, here is what I did.
I stopped eating desserts, appetizers, and drinking soda. I only drink water, and the food I do eat, I cut my portions way back. For example, if I'm wanting pizza, I'll eat it, but instead of eating a medium, I'll eat 3/4 of a small. I'm like that with everything. I always leave some food on my plate. I eat a lot of veggies, and fruit when I have the opportunity. Don't get me wrong, I still binge once in a while, if I'm craving a milkshake, or something like that, I'll get it, I just don't do it often, only if i'm REALLY craving it. If I do get a craving like that, I don't beat myself up over it, I enjoy the moment of weakness, and move on. Hope that helps.

Sex9 05-12-2007 08:16 AM

what worked for me was just doing 20 push-ups and 20 sit-ups every hour -...only takes about 2 mins..and way easier than actually going to a gym..I did that for about 3 months(about 3-8 trimes a day) and I went from 210 to 180 ...beer belly gone...I also changed my eating habits, during the week I only eat vegatables, fruit, and nuts(if you have a Trader Joes near you-they rock for healthy cheap food)...then whenever I go out - I eat whatever I want

viki 05-12-2007 08:23 AM

stop consuming any liquid calories (except alcohol of course :)) and you'll be astounded at the results.

shekinah 05-12-2007 08:26 AM

Same problem with you too.. My friend told me to drink slimming tea but I couldn't... It makes my tummy hurt:(

do you have a link for that or something?

More Booze 05-12-2007 08:37 AM

You'll loose ~2kg(~4.4lbs)/week if you eat less than 20 grams of carbohydrates/day.

It have to be the easiest diet ever. I eat a lot chicken with fat cheese and sallad and still loose weight. Fuckin' Amazing.

You don't have to care about calories.

calorieking.com ...the desktop software has a database of pretty much every food from every restaurant and any gorcery stores and the calories/fat/carbs/protein contained within each. it also calculates calories burnt from exercise based on your personal stats.

it also sets goals for you based on your current personal stats and tracks everything. database is updated every week. beautiful program.

and btw...FUCK atkins and any of those horseshit fad diets. they are only temporary. you can't be on atkins for life, because you're gonna fucking want bread. calorieking could sustain you forever or at least until you have ingrained healthy eating in your brain so much that you don't need it anymore.

The bad thing about low calorie diets is that your body will get used to not have much energy. So when you starts to eat like a normal person again( ~2000 caliries/day) you'll get fat again very quickly.

I've been there.
And about Atkins, I use a similar diet. You can eat bread again. But now as much as you use to do.

Get one of these to tone your abs... not sure if it'll get rid of beer belly though. It releaves the strain off your neck (head) and puts it all on you belly.
Very good

Jim_Gunn 05-12-2007 09:11 AM

If you don't have time for the gym, you aren't going to easily lose your beer belly.

The most effective and quickest way to lose your belly would be a combination of:

1- Weightlifting 3-4 days/week
2- Cardio- 2-3 times per week
3- Healthy eating- Meats, veggies, fruit, few grains
4- Counting your calories- Eating just over (to gain muscle) or just under (to lose fat) your caloric maintenance

Dicking around with any half assed plan of exercise or diets may help you lose some weight and lose a little off of your belly but it will most likely fail to give you the flat abdomen that you desire.

Ssv 05-12-2007 09:14 AM

the thing is, that if you want to loose wight you must excersise!!if you don't, by the time you'll loose the kg, your whole body will be like yelly fish.working out is a must, at least 2-3 times a week, so if in case you eat too much, with the excersise the body can burn all the extra calories.Few years back I was very very fat!I had about 84kg, which is waaaaaaay too much for my height! For 3 years, I'm working out, and eating normal(maybe more than normal), but i built muscels.I lost about 24kg, and now my body weight is normal, I can say that I'm happier and feel very sexy

There's no exercise that can help you lose weight in a targeted area, such as your stomach. When you exercise, the weight you lose comes from all over your body. If you do only situps, you'll increase muscle mass in those targeted areas but the weight loss will be all over your body.

To get rid of your beer belly: Stop drinking beer, pay attention to what you eat (especially by reading food labels), cut down on how many calories you consume, eat better quality food (more fruits and vegetables, preferably not fried) and get some exercise.

Losing weight and maintaining a healthy physique is so simple to do, but people are just too lazy. And fried chicken and doughnuts taste better than steamed spinach.

Zackster 05-12-2007 10:25 AM

My wife lost a lot of weight really fast eating tuna, chicken and those slim fast drinks anytime she felt the urge to eat. It worked great for her. And she hasn't gained it back either. Went from about 4'10 and 145 to 4'10 and 103. Looks great. Those slim fast drinks are like a quick balanced meal and digest easy, curb hunge, too.

Jman 05-12-2007 10:32 AM

Eat 10-12 almonds 20 minutes before you have your meal. This will supress your appetite. Also lots of water, green tea and excersise 4-5 times a week.

Drinking your meal is not as good as eating solid food. Shakes used as meal replacements should be consumed in moderation, since many of them have too many calories, carbs and sugars than is ideal. You will feel fuller and get more nutrients if you eat solid food.

being in shape, having a flat belly, etc is a lifestyle thing, and is truly lots of work.

no magic bullet that will work long term.

and the older you get the more work it is.

prob is most people would rather not go outside and plant spring flowers.

you must change your life priorities to stay fit and slim.

and only 5% of people will be able to do that given the way modern society now exists.

that darn couch and 42 inch plasma TV is just too comfy.

you must COMPLETELY rethink the way way you do your life to stay fit and slim, and it does take real WORK.

mx8829 05-12-2007 12:34 PM

What goes it should come out.

Sadly you will only lose belly fat after losing the fat around other parts of your body. This is my own experience.

I was 185lbs two years ago, with a body fat % of 22%. Took me almost a year to lose that and get in to about 11%. It was plain simple hard daily workthout. 30 min cardio, 45 min Circuit training daily followed by plan diet.

I got down all the way done to 155lbs, with a six pack. Problem was when I slow down, I started packing back far on my stomach.

If you are looking for simple method, my advice is choose the one you can do it. And follow. You can buy all the books, cd's programs ect ect. But if you don't follow through you will slip back.

You can try getting your self a personal trainer. Work with them for like 3 months see how it goes.

If you want easy and quick way.

Get your self a bike. Drink a bottle of water before you go for your ride. ride it around for least an hour daily. Being the outdoors, helps you burn fat fast since there is enough oxegon in the air, you need fuel to burn calories.

1 FAT Lbs = 3000 Calories. So if you want to lose 20lbs you need to burn
20 x 3000 = 60,000 Calories Total. this is the most safe and effective way to lose fat. When excerising make sure your heart rate stays around 125 ~ 140 , anything above will not burn fat , but will burn muscle.

falcao 05-12-2007 12:40 PM

Good advice from mx8829.

Correction:

1 FAT Lbs = 3500 Calories. So if you want to lose 20lbs you need to burn
20 x 3500 = 70,000 Calories Total.

Totally true that it's a lifestyle thing. If you don't want or are unwilling to completely change the way you live, every day, forever, then just enjoy being unhealthy. Nobody is promised tomorrow anyways. :)
