Have you ever not hired or worked with someone over something they said on the boards
 

Just curious to see who has thought about hiring someone, but then didn't because of something they saw the person do or say on the boards

hired or also not used their affiliate programs etc?

Real life can be different than the boards. 80% of the people on gfy are assholes.. but IRL most are cool cats.

I prefer to hire outside of the boards. Train the potential from the ground up.

When first impressions are made in text, you don't get to be picky pal. You could learn a lesson or two about this yourself.

And yes I have made those kinds of decisions based on some people's posts.. There are some people, board persona or not, that really don't deserve my business, and what I see them post on boards just reinforces that (or sometimes makes me dig a little deeper and avoid disaster).

well people no, but programs, companies and so on, i always research about them on the boards first

There are programs and people that I won't personally do business with because of how they or their reps present themselves.

While this is just a board, when it is the only representation that I have of someone, then that is what I go by.

I wouldn't put it, "something stupid they said or did," but would instead say, "acting stupid."

GFY is like liquor and when people get to feeling too comfortable they often show what they are really made of here.

If someone is an asshole on the boards, then that just shows you how they are, and I deffinatly wouldn't want to work with someone like that.

Certainly there are people I would not work with because of their board personae. People get to choose how they behave on a board, the same as anywhere else, so board characters either reflect the individuals or the people to whom they wish to appeal.

I agree with that. I am looking for a designer to redo my website and I have had people from here send me requests. I will not hire them because of the wat they act on here. Yeah I expect some fucking around, but some people go way to far on here. If you are a looking for business on here then act like a professional, being a dick will get you no where in the long run. If you know of a good website designer let me know. I am also considering having my blog redone as well.
