DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) -- A police officer will avoid criminal charges despite admitting he took marijuana from criminal suspects and, with his wife, baked it into brownies.

The police department's decision not to pursue a case against former Cpl. Edward Sanchez left a bad taste in the mouth of at least one city official, who vowed to investigate.

"If you're a cop and you're arresting people and you're confiscating the marijuana and keeping it yourself, that's bad. That's real bad," said City Councilman Doug Thomas.

Sanchez, who resigned last year from the department in this Detroit suburb, declined comment Wednesday to the Detroit Free Press. Police Cmdr. Jeff Geisinger did not return calls seeking comment.

The department's investigation began with a 911 call from Sanchez's home on April 21, 2006. On a 5-minute tape of the call, obtained by the Free Press, Sanchez told an emergency dispatcher he thought he and his wife were overdosing on marijuana.

"I think we're dying," he said. "We made brownies and I think we're dead, I really do."

Sanchez later told police investigators that his wife took the marijuana out of his police vehicle while he was sleeping. In a subsequent interview, he admitted he got the marijuana out of the car himself and put it in the brownie mix, police said.

His wife also was not charged

There is a cop is my old town that just got arrested on monday for making fake pain killer dr prescriptions and then just 2 days later, his wife was arrested for doing the same thing.

haha... thats aweome... i baked some up with some friends in college and same shit happened to one of the guys... fucker told us he thought we were all dead and then we watched him in what seemed like slow motion pick up the phone and call 9-11 on himself..

needless to say we were out of there in under a minute... they took his ass to hospital and charged him with possession .

After the cop found his stash he took the "suspect" lol out of the back of his cruiser, uncuffed him and handed his dope back to him that had been sitting on the hood of the car. The cop had placed it there after ransacking the car.

The odd thing was after handing the dude his baggie, they made hand contact
again, the copper puts what he had in his right hand into his left hand, and then the cop proceeds to stuff something into his left side pocket.

I know a few cops too. They aren't all bad.

I also know a few retards (autistic) I wouldn't compare them to these pricks.

This is great.... I mean, obviously they were of course not dying or anywhere near it, but who would expect a cop to know anything at all about the stuff they confiscate and fuck people over for all the time?

I'm not going to name names, but anyone who's been in this business knows him. He's been to almost all the shows. THINK, lol.

And with the responses here about being a "Piggie" and "bacon" I hope no one else posts his name either unless he chooses to do it himself. He's been a part of this biz at least 10 years and was in NOLA during Katrina working his ass off (that right there should be a big hint).

AGAIN, not all cops are bad. I'm surprised at the shallow mindedness displayed from folks in a business who expect people to understand pornographers aren't bad just because there are a few who have been total screw ups :(

I do believe there is corruption in some parts of every profession though, nobody is immune to that. Sometimes things go way over the lines, and when they do we can only hope the right things happen to prevent it in the future.

Thats one high-stress profession I would not want to have to deal with. When cops would walk their beat in my store areas (when I ran stores), I'd always get to hear their crazy stories and wish them a quiet night.

That brownie eating thing just kills me though when I hear it on tv, lol.. He asks whats the score in the Redwings game, and the operator is like what? I have no idea.. and he says ok I thought maybe I was hallucinating.. lol

Ok, seems like this thread is being taken in an odd direction.

I agree that some cops are nice guys and girls, I know of a few myself. But I have a problem with police "busting" people for drugs just to turn around and use them themselves. It is the same for speeding and other offences police enjoy giving tickets or arresting people for. My opinion is that if you choose to be a police officer then you should yourself follow the rules that you enforce. I don't disagree that police have a hard job and that they need to unwind now and then, but to smoke the same weed that you just took from someone...that's not right. If police officers think that marijuana is not a bad drug then perhaps they should be helping to get it legalized. The bottom line and the point of this post to me is to illustrate that some/many police officers abuse the power that they so recklessly wield.

By the way…I used the word retarded not in its literal sense, but rather like you would have used it in grade 6 (like saying something is “gay” but not meaning homosexual)

People who generalize and call all cops retards I often find to be either the kinds of people who are detrimental to society (pieces of shit) or the kinds who didn't like daddy growing up and now have a problem with authority. And maybe some pricks who just can't let a $50 ticket go and decided to hate all peace officers because they're cheap cunts. But of course there are retard cops out there, I know a couple myself, its unfortunate when they fuck up, like these jackasses did, they make all cops look bad cuz these stories make front page.

Cops have the best weed..been known for years

I've personally had a 50/50 experience ratio with good cops & bad cops. Many are good peeps. I have a number of friends that are cops and a few that are federal agents. Unfortunately there is a decent percentage of people who cannot handle the responsibility of power that is given to them. As said above this taints the group as a whole as that is what most people will remember.

Generalities...generally suck.

I work with cops all day long and many are good personal friends. No denying there's always a few bad apples, but you'll find that in every profession.

I heard that call on a radio show when it happened. that had me literally laughing so hard, i had to stop the car. the guy thought he was going to die because he ate brownies with pot in them and called 911. it was the most insane, ridiculous 911 ever.

If I happened to be enough of a weener to become a cop, I'd probably be the cop confiscating your weed and taking it home too. Or I'd at least be like "What's this here sir? Step out of the car, and bring your papers. We can't have people driving around with big bags in their cars. We're gonna have to smoke this entire bag."
