Googledatingsite - initally promoted as "powered by Google" - claims more thanone million members who paid €100 each for the service

DaddyHalbucks 05-10-2007 09:56 PM

I find that hard to believe and I also find it odd that they don't have a backup of their database either as the article says. 100 Million pounds of transactions and not a backup, no chance.

Not backing up such a lucrative DB is grounds for being shot because you are just so stupid.

Googol is the actual word that's in the dictionary, Google was a play on that word which could be easily trademarked.

yah, search webster dictionary on google, second result is the definition of google.

i wonder if you used it as a verb in a domain, would it be fair game now?

I was recently contacted by the head of Google Trademark Issues to transfer my domain www.googledefinitions.com to Google immediately

Quote:

Dear Mr.,

We have reviewed your site and note you have not complied with your promise to change the site and domain. The site is live and is using a logo in the same color scheme as the famous GOOGLE logo.

Your use of the domain name and logo are likely to confuse consumers into believing Google has sponsored or endorsed your site. Accordingly, your use of the domain name constitutes trademark infringement and cybersquatting. We must ask that you immediately cease use of the domain name and transfer it to Google.

Please provide your agreement to transfer the domain name by April 26, 2007.

Sincerely,
Rose Hagan

Sarah_Jayne 05-11-2007 03:13 AM

Maybe, but on the other hand, google will have a different opinion. It's pretty much like explaining the 600 pound gorilla that it's YOUR banana...

Rumbo 05-11-2007 03:38 AM

even if google hit him with a $50m lawsuit, he still has $50m left

worth it

plus he can employ someone to back up the database or just spend $20 on one of those hd back up things

Dear rose,

Regarding your recent inquiry into our logo. Im afraid you are too late to claim any sort of similarity in the color scheme of our logo as "mother earth" has recently contacted us and claimed she first came up with the color scheme when she invented rainbows. Because "mother earth" came to use first , i'm afraid we are going to have to deal with her first , thus you must now direct any problems to "mother earth". In the future any inquiries regarding the logo will result in swift and severe penalties and charges including harrasment as it has been pointed out to you who the rightfull owner of the color scheme is.

Regarding your claim of "confusion" we feel is without merit. We randomly polled 100 people and asked them if they thought our site was google. amazingly all 100 agreed our site was not google and were not confused in any way. as with the above claims , we feel any further discussion on this part by you will consitute harrasment as it has clearly been pointed out that the domain is neither confusing and you dont own the color scheme.

Lastly in regards to your request to blackmail us into giving away our domain name to you. hahahahhaa you have got to be joking , If you are interested in purchasing the domain , its not for sale so don't bother. go eat a fat dick.

Any reply to this email ,lawsuit, carbon copy or further contact from you or any google employee signifies you wish to sell the domain www.google.com to us for $1

Have a nice day

Chariott 05-11-2007 10:50 PM

well, that is really bad...i mean if im one of google's associates i would definitely file a complaint against the owners of those domains...that's just like company names...you should not be so obviously the same with the others...
