The US Supreme court ruled that copyrighted images can be used without license or permission IF the images are reduced to what we understand to be "button" size.

ie, if you want to take one of those pictures of the girl and put her on a recip button, you can do it without asking. If you want to take the images and put them on your site, you are leaving yourself open for copyright infringement.

However, from what I've found in the industry (and correct me if I'm wrong), most people aren't too upset if you take 10-20 images and put them on your site and have a lot of links back to where you took them from, so long it isn't your primary selling point as well. It's a touchy area though, one which I stay away from because it's pretty easy to get free content and pretty cheap to buy original content.

Any thoughts on this?
