Over here in the UK we pay about $2.50 or there abouts for one litre (not gallon) of petrol (gas if you will...) Bloody scandalous.

B O B 05-07-2007 02:50 PM

I'm trying to decide between the Prius and the Camry Hybrid for my wife.

The Prius gets better mileage but... it looks like a prius. :1orglaugh

Peaches 05-07-2007 04:26 PM

$2.95 for regular at the most expensive stations in town as of today. Walmart is usually a few cents less with places in the ATL burbs being up to 10 cents less.

I have enough to wait until I head to ATL for a fill up :)

I think they are driving the prices up after reading this :

http://www.ajc.com/search/content/bu...507bizgas.html

he recent increases are due mostly to refinery problems, Lundberg said, noting there have been at least a dozen additional partial shutdowns in the U.S. and internationally that cut refining capacity.

One of the nation's largest refineries, a BP PLC plant in Indiana that processes more than 400,000 barrels of oil per day, will not be operating at full capacity for several months due to unexpected repairs.

Other examples include a 170,000-barrel-per-day plant in McKee, Texas, that was shut down for a month, and a 470,000 barrels-per-day plant in Texas City operating at less than half capacity.

The outages have been reflected in weekly government data which has shown gasoline inventories falling during a season when most analysts think they should be rising. Summer driving begins Memorial Day weekend, and analysts worry refineries won't be producing enough gasoline by then to meet demand.

Despite prices at the pump climbing past the $3 mark, analysts have said the inventory fears can only go so far, as evidenced by recent declines in oil and gas futures. Retail prices generally lag the futures markets, so consumers can end up paying more for gas even as futures prices drop.

bdld 05-07-2007 04:40 PM

$3.68 + 9/10 in southern california.

Scott McD 05-07-2007 04:42 PM

If they didn't tax us so damn much on it in the first place, we maybe wouldn't be hit by it so bad everytime...

dav3 05-07-2007 05:00 PM

I'm about to get me one of these badboys.

It's around the same here in S.W. MI. Give or take a dime.

:disgust

Peaches 05-07-2007 05:20 PM

That's what's wild about Alaska - all that oil but because they don't refine it there, they have some of the most expensive gas prices in the states.

aico 05-07-2007 05:22 PM

Actually, the insane part is people who keep paying for it. I think it's rather smart for them to raise the prices, cuz people just keep on paying. If I could charge more for something and make more I would.
