FBI Visits Shane’s World for 2257 Inspection
By Steve Javors
Monday, May 7, 2007

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — A team of FBI agents visited the offices of Shane’s World Studios at approximately 9:30 a.m. this morning to conduct a routine inspection of the company’s 2257 records, XBIZ has learned exclusively.

After a quiet start to the year with no 2257 inspections reported until the FBI visited the defunct Moonlight Entertainment on May 3, it seems that the FBI is ramping up inspections.

“Approximately six agents came by this morning and were interested in 10 titles,” Shane’s World owner Jennie Grant said. “After we regained consciousness, we promptly gave them all the records and they got to work. They were here for a few hours and then let us know our records were perfect.

“Once the initial shock of having the FBI at your office wore off, we got to work. I relaxed because I realized we are prepared for this and we have a great staff that pays attention to detail.”

Grant said that one of the FBI agents told her directly, “It’s really rare for us to find zero violations.”

Shane’s World employs a full-time staffer to maintain the company’s 2257 records.

Megan Stokes, Shane’s World vice president of sales, told XBIZ that the agents were interested in the 2257 records for a few of the older titles in the “Shane’s World” series as well as new releases in the line. Also inspected were records from the studio’s popular “College Invasion” series, “Girls Night Out” and “Shane’s World Slumber Party 20.”

Stokes said the agents stayed for a couple of hours at the company’s offices before leaving with their own copying equipment.

The other companies that have been subject to 2257records inspections are Diabolic (July 24, 2006), Sebastian Sloane Productions (July 28, 2006), Robert Hill Releasing (Aug. 1, 2006), Sunshine Films (Aug. 16, 2006), Darkside Entertainment (Sept. 12, 2006), Evasive Angles (Sept. 27, 2006), Legend (Oct. 10, 2006), Pure Play Media (Nov. 16, 2006), K-Beech (Dec. 14, 2006) and Moonlight Entertainment (May 3, 2007).

The FBI’s inspection of Bethlehem, Pa.-based Sebastian Sloane Productions was prompted by an unrelated search warrant.

Doesn't sound like a fun way to start the week. At least the records were 100% in order. :)

Give that 2257 manager a raise! :thumbsup

yeah i was here.

when you first find out you get stressed until you realize that everything is 100% in order. we have a great person doing that stuff and she dealt with them. i was locked in a closet so i wouldn't mess anything up.

:Oh crap

tony286 05-07-2007 02:59 PM

did they look at paper files or computer database, where they only looking at video stuff and not dvd?

King Adam 05-07-2007 03:57 PM

Airek .. maybe you could have your reords keeper post how you guys file you records. Seeing that you guys are 0 infractions, it might be nice to see. I know a couple people that do things slightly different and I for one would be interested in how to keep them with 0 infractions.

Everyone is acting as if 2257 is the end of the world. The truth is many other industries have such record keeping requirements. Because of the fact that our industry a bit more visable than most - and the damage done by Tracy Lords - we are under the microscope a little bit more.

Congrats to Shane's World for pulling it off!

Congrats to Shanes World.

Did you know that many of past the companies that have been inspected have had violations while reporting to the public they had zero? One such company had OVER 60 violations... said they had none. At leats that is what a little bird told me.

Congrats to Shane's World :thumbsup

We really need to start the Agent Scully Award for adult industry compliance with good record-keeping law :winkwink:

Do you mean they had a general search warrant to search the entire business or was it a specific warrant to view your records?
I mean, did they come for the records or did they come to search every crook and cranny to dig for something to file charges on?

How did they arrive? Suits, black suburbans, how many agents ect...? just curious

Congratulations on a good job..

Screaming 05-07-2007 05:43 PM

sounds like all went well, good deal

hey don't need a search warrant for inspections.

warrants are for a different purpose.

they came to inspect records.

they wore suits.

there were 6 or 7.

they came in ford explorer. dark grey.

that last part is nothing to do with us, its a company in pa. we are in california. not sure about any of their details. you'd need to ask them.

I would be VERY interested in this also... Could be a big benefit for the industry as a whole to have on record. For people already doing it well it might give them some better ideas and new ways that are proven successful.

That would be the shit. This is a great chance for Shanes World to set the benchmark for 2257 record keeping. This could actually be a very big help to a lot of medium to small sized webmasters. :thumbsup

Congrats on passing the gestapo, er...FBI shakedown.

Between the FBI and the IRS, it sure must suck living in the U.S. of A. these days.

I'm thankful we moved operations north of the border.
