Traffic Question: Page Requests and file extensions.

Would a single .avi, .mpeg, .mpg, .mov, .jpg, .wmv type files count as a PAGE request and ALSO as a HIT request under ANY circumstances? Say you link to a .avi file; would that video file count as a PAGE request in a traffic report, or just as a successfully downloaded FILE (obviously the page it was linked on is a page request, but is the file too?).

Also, if there is a .avi, .mpg, .jpg, etc (hot linking) that is NOT linked on one of your pages, linked on another site, and someone downloads the .avi or views the .jpg, would either of those situations count as a PAGE request? Yes, they would be "files and hits", but would it be a PAGE request if not downloaded from a page on your server? A definite answer isn't required, but if you have an idea what I'm talking about, inform me. :)

Thanks.
