BEST Radar DEtector
I am looking to buy a radar detector, i was wondering if i can get any user feedback .
Any of you guys used or still use any particular model? Thanks |
That would be the Beltronics STi Driver. It is particulary popular up here in Canada because radar detectors are illegal, and this is basically the only model that is safe to use in areas where they might be using radar detector-detectors.
go to radardetector.net for a ton of info on detectors. |
Valentine is the one recommended and used by most exotic car owners.
I have used V1 for nearly 10 years and it has saved me many times. http://www.valentine1.com/ |
I have a V1 - works well.. Had a Passporte Escort before it, and love the fact that the V1 has directional arrows...
Heard the new Passporte Escort is pretty decent though.. |
I love my V1. I couldn't imagine just having a beep without the V1's arrows telling me where it's coming from. It's the only detector with both front and rear radar antennas.
The V1 is upgradeable so be sure to get a new one directly from them or figure out what version you're getting if you buy it on ebay. Spend the extra $$. |
yup I have the V1 as well, it's awesome

Valentine 1. enuff said......
|
Valentine 1 all the way. I've used some of the top brands and the directional arrows on the V1 are indispensable.
|
i have done a ton of research, i own a V1 and it is no longer the best, the shit is outdated and even with the updates, it cant hold its own anymore. the other companies are constantly updating the software and technology, V1 is not.

It's weird, ever since I stopped using a radar detector I stopped getting tickets. LOL
|
valentine is the best.. if you get a ticket they pay for it ... and thast the truth.. Ive had a valentine for over 7 years and theyve paid 7 tickets for me.... all doing over 100 hahahahaha

I have a Valentine 1, but I think I'm gonna need to upgrade it because when I go down into Wisconsin, it hasn't been picking up the state police radar. I learned the hard way because I got pulled over and it never made a sound. Luckily the officer was nice enough to just give me a warning.

Escort makes some pretty good ones. But with any radar detector, you have to be careful. In my area, the state troopers will wait until you are within range, then hit you with the laser. At that point the detector lights will go crazy and it's too late. So really, the best 'radar detector' is a good set of eyes.

i beat instant on with valention 1 all the time. i just pick up the guy that he tagged in front of me and back off the gas. :)

I had the same kind of experience with my V1. I was pulled over and the officer said he had me on laser but the V1 never beeped. |

I bought the V1 on your recommendation. If it's out of date...I'd like to know which one you think I should replace it with. |
I have the k40. it tells you from which direction you are being hit with and which band. for instance, it will scamble the ka band (laser) and is very sensitive with x band and k bands so driving though the city is apain but you can always mute it and go by the indicator lights which is fine. i havent gotten a speeding ticket since, but i got a few obstruction of traffic fines which leads me to beleive he had not been able to lock on me with the laser.
i like it. i dont 100% rely on it because sometimes it picks up apu scanning groceries, but other than that it is good. i give it a 90 out of 100. It also lets you know when a helicopter is hitting u from the top as well. All this talk on a sunny day, im goin for a cruise :) Duke |

for some reason to me personally holding a bike at 150 is harder than 170 or 130 if that makes any sence to anyone..... |
A Bicycle!

I have not had a radar detector in a good 7 years or so. Mainly because I switched from sports cars to SUV's. But I always swore by Escort.
They used to include a booklet with the detectors (I'd had a good 5 or so) that gave you tips on speeding, and that a detector is a tool to help. Not a license to speed. The tips were definately good for sure. I do not have a detector now, and I haven't had a ticket in a good 10 years. I simply follow the same exact tips that were in that little manual, or guide. Funny how that works eh? :winkwink: |
