How many computers and monitors do you use similtaneously?

I find I'm more efficient in my work with two computers and 3 monitors (excluding the notebook screen) run at the same time.

Twoface31 05-04-2007 06:41 PM

Amputate Your Head 05-04-2007 07:30 PM

1 notebook. Loaded to the fuckin' teeth.
Twin terabyte externals.
6 printers of various forms. (sign shop here also)

that's all I need.

RevSand 05-04-2007 07:31 PM

1 pc with three screens... laptop for travel or while at shoots..

notabook 05-04-2007 07:38 PM

Main computer = 1 19" CRT for gaming and some design work, 1 19" LCD for everything else.

One junk computer that I use for general web browsing/wasting time with, one monitor on that one.

About 8 other computers that are doing various things, a few monitors between them.

A laptop that I don't use at all really... bring it with me on trips and shit but I don't really like using laptops.

bogo 05-04-2007 07:55 PM

1 pc is all you need...shifting your fingers over to a 2nd is too much work.

OzMan 05-04-2007 09:49 PM

counting zombies 847 give or take :Oh crap

Jim_Gunn 05-04-2007 10:22 PM

I have at least five pcs with individual monitors attached working between two rooms with important stuff at almost any given time. Right now I have GFY, web browser and email and misc apps on my Centrino laptop; am downloading files and scanning docs on my old Win Me system; batch processing photos on my P4; capturing hdv footage on my Pentium D system and encoding videos with Cleaner XL nearly non-stop on my newest Core 2 Duo machine.

Horny Dude 05-04-2007 10:28 PM

Just two computers and three monitors. I would add another monitor, but the outlets in my room are getting a little full.

WiredGuy 05-05-2007 04:30 AM

2-3 at a time and some multi-tasking with off-site windows servers.

There is no fingers shifting for me. I use a single keyboard for both computers with the help of a free software, it's almost has if both computers were one with that software:thumbsup

porn blogger 05-05-2007 04:10 PM

Not counting fileservers, domain controller, dns servers, web servers, etc. I use 12 workstations across 15 different ventures. control all of them via remote desktop, and a couple of KVM switches using 3 monitors.

I assume the kvm are for the monitors?

psili 05-06-2007 10:44 AM

I'm cheating, since I have an employer:

Work =

1 Dell desktop mapped on a network running all my apache / tomcat / mysql / php development needs (no monitor).
1 Dell desktop with two 21" monitors accessing the dev machine plus any server farm.
1 Laptop running linux for my own needs and development

Home =
1 Dell desktop with two 19" monitors. Used mostly by the bride and myself for ripping disks.
1 Dell, refurbished, sitting in "off" mode, as a linux box for when I want it.
1 same laptop as above as my main development and sideline work computer.

Randyyy 05-06-2007 10:51 AM

just my trusty laptop

GrouchyAdmin 05-06-2007 11:00 AM

I only need one screen and keyboard. However, I'm usually logged into at least five or six remote systems at a time. :thumbsup

Jago Webcams 05-06-2007 11:01 AM

2 20" widescreens at home on one pc, travel with a laptop

dav3 05-06-2007 11:03 AM

I only have 1 main pc w/ 1 20" lcd, 1 pc tucked away in the breakfast room whose monitor gets used for other ppl's pcs when they are getting fixed, and laptop which I use as a viewer to the 2nd pc.

We also each have multiple desktops running in the office upstairs.

On top of this I'm logged into both of our servers and she's remotely connected to her desktop at work.

I lost count.

Spunky 08-04-2007 05:25 PM

Two pcs at a time

pussyluver 08-04-2007 05:48 PM

Not gonna define my network. Worthless exercise. For work it is a single screen with two workstations - switch for the monitor and keyboard. Ok, mouse too. Would consider dual screens, but would not go higher than that on a single desktop. Ya can have seperate workstation areas for different purposes. You can physically move or remote into them.

Babaganoosh 08-04-2007 06:31 PM

Technically I use 4 machines. I have my laptop on my desk as well as my pc with 2 monitors. I have a Linux webserver that sits behind me (no monitor) for testing scripts and some network storage space. Then I have another machine with a single monitor that sits in a back bedroom to handle some encoding or huge batch processing jobs that will take some time.
