Life in a Bunker

Al-Sahaf's comments on al Jazeera appeared to contradict a statement by British parliamentarian George Galloway, who met with Saddam last week.

Galloway told reporters that Saddam told him he was willing to comply with the outstanding U.N. Security Council resolutions on Iraq and had offered access to U.N. inspectors. He did, however, concede that Saddam did not use the word "unfettered."

But Galloway, who opposes U.S. efforts to overthrow the Iraqi leader, said Baghdad should not be expected to allow the inspectors back in the face of possible U.S. attack.

A member of Prime Minister Tony Blair's Labor Party, Galloway recommended that Blair accept Saddam's olive branch, and take note of opinion British opinion polls running heavily against war, despite Blair's staunch support for Bush and his opposition to Iraq.

Speaking to reporters after meeting with the beleaguered Iraqi president, Galloway said he found Saddam to be "radiating a zen-like calm."

"The president conducts his business as normally as possible given the threat of foreign assassination. You shouldn't imagine that he's cowering in a bunker. That's very far from the truth," he said.

But a bunker is exactly where Galloway met the Iraqi leader. Despite the fine furnishings, Galloway said the meeting room was so deep underground that his ears popped on the way down.

Galloway said he was driven around Baghdad for an hour before the meeting in a car with all the windows blocked. He had no idea where he was.

I just realized that I didn't add my appendum to the article, not that it is that cute.

The point is, Saddam is already bunkered down. He is probably more aware that the US is preparing to take him out than the American people are.

Incase anyone here does not watch and read as much news as I do, we are already moving forces into place. The constant refrain from the Administration that no decision has been made is BS.

I doubt that we will engage prior to the November elections, but we may as that would be about the only way to launch a surprise attack.

Do we honestly believe that George W. can do what his daddy couldn't and kill Saddam? #41 had the support of 50 nations worldwide, #43 hasn't got shit in that regards. That spells big trouble and big cost. Up goes national debut, up goes taxes, down go approval ratings. Out goes #43.

He already got rid of one problem. I hope he wipes out Sadaam. :2 cents:
