Dean is an amazing photographer, but he seems to have a few screws loose. He's said and done some weird and stupid shit over the years. This is an example.

Dean decided that he would bite the hand that feeds him. We let him get away with his spammy posts for a long time. In many cases when the people he shot for were not advertisers or financial supporters of the board simply because we felt the community enjoyed his images. Many think that they are bigger than GFY. Then they are banned and they come to us begging to come back and that they apologize etc. Thinking before you speak is very important.

I hope the "you've been banned" page doesn't have any ads on it so it loads fast for him. :)

At least he is pretty good at what he does, unlike some other lamers that spam their shit on here every day... and really, he is right, the board is slow more often than not, and it's been like that for many months already...

Eric, why are you playing the Rules card when you know fully well that it's very subjective anyway. For example, TD has admitted on several occasions that he's aware of a lot of the fake nicks. Why aren't those members banned who have fake nicks then?

You have a lot of bot attacks. Why not take a stance and ban those fucking contest bots? They're just consuming resources for a $20 cash prize. It's ridiculous to let them continue doing it. Maybe stop the whole "If you post # 23 in this thread you win $1.26!!"

If that is the reason he's banned, that's pretty fucking lame.
Naturally, if there's other reasons, then it isn't a big deal, but if it was for JUST that post, then that's really stupid and lame to ban someone for.

GFY is slow ... and it does get a lot of people saying that. I guess the fact that he spoke out against Playboy didn't bode well. In a way... I don't complain that it's slow because it's free to use ... I spose that makes it ok in my book.

I agree he is very good at what he does and yes he spams less often than a lot of other people. I don't dislike him, I'm just saying he is a whore like 80% of the people here and no one misses a whore.

People in general, and particularly in this industry, take themselves far too seriously. Dean is guilty of it and so is Playboy. End of story.

to comply to democratic decisions voted by their users.

People seem to always forget that just because they can join a community
they don't automatically have a say in the community rules of the community

I understand and TBH, I can see GFY's viewpoint on this pretty clearly....BUT.....IMHO, Dean should not have been banned for what he posted. He's not a GFY hater, he's somebody who contributes to GFY in a positive way and he likes GFY enough to try to rattle some cages to get things fixed.

ANYBODY who claims that GFY is never slow for them is either an occasional poster or a fucking liar. GFY locks up consistently day in and day out. It should be fixed and Dean, as a well liked poster and fan of GFY, has been lobbying on these issues for awhile. Has anybody taken the time to reply to him about the issue is the past? If not, I can understand his viewpoint too.

This decision is not going to hurt Dean. It will probably piss him off but it won't hurt him....However....One less decent poster on a board filled with...well...Not so decent ones.....I just don't see how this ban does anything for the good of GFY. :2 cents:

I don't think he was banned specifically for his opinion, but for his choice of words. His opinion wasn't wrong, but he certainly could have chosen at least one less 4 letter word to describe it.

at the host level gfy gets a lot of botnet or ddos attacks...i think the site can handle the 10 guys running post bots to win the $50 :winkwink:

Dean may have been a little harsh to throw around the " playboy says fuck you" BUT I do not think it was meant in as negative of a way as its being taken... As stated above he was trying to rattle some cages to get some KNOWN issues fixed at a site that he enjoyed and was a normally decent member of.

While some may see it as harsh, just think of it like someone you (may or may not) like visiting you and criticizing you in the very house you live. You don't like it? Fine, fucking leave already. But don't fling shit at the host. I bet most of you would've banned Dean much sooner than Lens did, had you been the ones managing GFY.
