What feels better? Experiencing Intense Pleasure or the Relief of Severe Pain?

To be honest with you I think I may have stumbled upon something that explains why so many people get PLEASURE out of PAIN!:(

We have all endured PAIN in many forms but in particular I'm talking about physical PAIN. The past couple of weeks I've woken up to some Severe back PAINS caused by what my doctor thinks might be Gallstones. :Oh crap My test results will be in Monday.

What I realized was that although the PAIN in the back was at times excruciating, that when the PAIN subsided the feeling of relief was in fact a feeling of pure PLEASURE. :)

I don't think it's the PAIN so much that someone enjoys when they participate in certain S&M practices but that the PAIN is actually a means to an end which in reality the relief of the pain is the true PLEASURE

Does this make sense to you? Have you experienced the joy of severe PAIN relief and would you in fact call it a form of PLEASURE?

I don't think that people get into pain for the relief of it, I think its more of a surrender thing... total submission to and acceptance of the pain. Then you realize pain and pleasure are just sensations, its your reaction too it (aversion , clenching, clinging, attachment, etc) that causes suffering.

"nothing in the world is good or bad, but thinking makes it so."
