My parrot got away....

...my gfs sister left the door open. Now he is lost somewhere outside. As I know they get lost very easy and can't find the way back. I am so sad now. He used to sit on my shoulder all day and was very very friendly.
He made me company while I was posting on GFY. It is strange how much I got used to him. Almost as he was a person.

Thanks for the offer. Is he/she so bad that you want to give it away?

That is so sad...maybe you will get lucky and he will come back. Have you tried leaving his favourite food outside the door?

Pumba 05-02-2007 04:27 PM

Yes, and his cage is outside so he can see it if he fly near by. I don't belive he will come back. Life goes on...

suesheboy 05-02-2007 04:31 PM

Don't give up.

I lost my African gray before he was weaned but got him back. Put up posters everywhere with a large reward posted. Got him in back in 18 hours.

That was 23 years ago and I take him everywhere when I travel.

Nice to hear that. It must be fun to take him around. It is strange how parrots are interested in everything you do. They are allways so curius. At least my was.

He is a pisser - but he is a major pain in the ass when I am on the phone which can be hard since I work from my house.

I have 3 cats and he gets along great with all of them. he has 2 playpens and a cage that is never closed so he goes wherever he wants (unless he annoys the shit out of me).

He loves it when I take him to the mountains and he hangs out on the deck and screams at all the local birds.

Pumba 05-02-2007 04:53 PM

Same about phone here. He was is loudest when I talk over the phone.

He knows how to open the cage himself. He was outside of his cage most of the day. Same reason for closing him as yours.

Doesn't those cats try to eat him sometimes?

Btw, I forget to say, mine was Lovebird.

Never.

He calls them and will bump beak to nose with my youngest cat when he gets close to her.

The cats generally stay clear on him and I have never had an issue. I am very careful when introducing a new animal (he likes dogs too).

Great!. Never heard about cat-bird friendship. It looks that cats are in more danger than the bird:)

Hi there!

If I were you and wanted the parrot back, I would take few days off and post flyers everywhere especially at places that people visit who are outside a lot like restaurants/hotels, pump stations etc.

I lost a parrot once and found her back after 2 days laying in a tower found by climbers who noted a flyer at a pump station. Sadly she was death but I am glad I had found her.

Her name was Jolie.
