Dumb ass movies you liked as a kid

Having just seen Bachelor Party listed in my cable tv listings it reminded me of the days when HBO ran that movie about three times a day for a year. Seriously dumb movie but it had boobs in it and felt naughty to watch it. It is also the reason I can never take Tom Hanks too seriously.

Anyway, it had be thinking through dumb ass movies that I watched a lot as a kid. Dragnet (also a Tom Hanks film before he was suppose to be taken seriously), Young Einstein, Money Pit and Howard the Duck are others that come to mind.

What are the dumb ass movies you liked as a kid?

Mr Pheer 05-02-2007 01:25 AM

I always liked horror flicks. The more cheesy, the better.

Humanoids From The Deep... it had lots of tits, and sea monsters

LiveDose 05-02-2007 01:27 AM

Airplane.

Pornwolf 05-02-2007 01:30 AM

As a child I swore to pattern my morals after those seen in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

I also loved Time Bandits which was pretty stupid if you think about it now.

Pornwolf 05-02-2007 01:32 AM

Wait, does Emmanuelle count? I see you mentioned boobs. Well, there was boobs and more. I was watching that when I was like 5 and 6 and even then I knew the plot sucked!

Porn Farmer 05-02-2007 01:42 AM

Ghostbusters.

Funny and cool in 1985. Lame as hell twenty years later.

The film does not age well.

wyldworx 05-02-2007 01:44 AM

dark crystal.

notabook 05-02-2007 01:46 AM

Hmm... Beastmaster, Conan the Barbarian/Destroyer (though these were not that "dumb" I guess), Fuzz Bucket (stupidest piece of shit ever made yet it was somehow incredibly addicting to watch), Flight of the Navigator (Pretty fucking stupid these days)... and Teen Wolf (god I hate teen wolf now).. oh yeah and those fucking stupid ewok Star Wars spin-off movies. Fucking Wicket, I hate that son of a bitch. That said, the ewok spin-offs were still better than those shit movies that hayden christensen starred in.

When I was a kid we had four TV stations. When the wind blew the right way, we got a few more from Buffalo and Rochester.

Lon Chaney terrified me as The Werewolf when I was around 5 or 6, shown on the CBC. That movie made a HUGE impression on me. In my early teens I saw Jaws in the theatre, and I didn't swim in Rice Lake that summer :)

I guess you guys are too young to remember having to get up off your ass and walk across the room to switch stations.,,

Fap 05-02-2007 02:03 AM

A classic though..but you don't even have to watch it now because it you say a line everybody else will fill in with all the other lines from the film.

I watched a lot of Ferris too...the DVD of that has one of the best commentaries I have heard. Not only is it a rare John Hughes commentary but he was responsible for everything on the film and talks about everything from set decoration to song choice.

I remember liking Time Bandits when I was much younger...then a few years ago I went to a Pantomime show in the UK and one of the small guys from Time Bandits was in it.

Yes, my bf is a Howard the Duck fan (he will be the person waiting in line if it ever comes out on DVD) and it left him with a thing for her that does get a tad annoying at times..lol

The carrot scene stuck in my mind even though I didn't have a clue about what they were talking about at that age.
