Can Amateur Pages Be Sued?

For terminating webmasters without notice or any indication that something is wrong. I've heard of people who got terminated for using blue font on a black background.

they keep taking your traffic for months, which is essentially stealing when you don't rip them off.

if you don't know anything about law, don't respond with stupid remarks, like read the rules blah blah. thats not the issue.

klik 08-20-2002 02:31 PM

They only shut down the people that need to be shut down.

Read the rules.. follow the rules... or deal with the issues you cause.

Killerelf 08-20-2002 02:35 PM

I believe Klik hit it right on the head.
Leave AmateurPages alone. If you don't agree with them then don't use them!

FlyingIguana 08-20-2002 02:44 PM

thats not the issue. if you make a simple mistake, which happened to me about 4 years ago and they don't tell you that you're terminated and continue taking your traffic with no intention of paying. guess what? thats amounts to nothing but theft.

TAFlorian 08-20-2002 02:44 PM

Yeah, if you signup, you agree to the rules...if you don't like the rules, noone forces you to signup.

I don't use their affiliate program, but in general: It's fruitless to complain about a contract you signed, as long as the contract doesn't violate any laws...and I'm damn sure that the AP lawyers knew what they did when writing the rules ;)

Sly_RJ 08-20-2002 02:46 PM

I agree with what's already said. But asking about Amateur Pages at this board is pretty stupid, there's something called bias running around here. I doubt many people would post at this board if they had a beef with any of the Adult.com programs.

FlyingIguana 08-20-2002 02:48 PM

obviously if you don't follow the rules you should be terminated. but thats not what this is about.

LiveDose 08-20-2002 02:50 PM

If I hadn't received a check in for 4 years I probably would've changed my links....:winkwink:

Read the rules.

LiveDose 08-20-2002 02:52 PM

In going along with what you are saying I think it would be wrong for any sponsor to keep taking traffic and allowing you to see your stats thinking that you are still signed up. Yes.

This goes for any sponsor.

If this is about whether it would hold up in court if you actually tried to sue AP...

Good luck.. I doubt OJ's lawyer could pass that over..

I know companies get away with alot worse of things..

And I know that this message board is owned by adult.com.. and that doesn't change my opinion on your question..

Even if you had asked this on another board.. I would still tell you that Adult.com staff a are well respected.. and well organized team... and trying to pull them into court would not benefit you in any way...

Like I said before.. try calling them if it really is serious..

But you said it was 4 years ago.. shit.. do you really care that much to bring it back up?
Or have you been sending them traffic for 4 years and just now realized that you aren't getting checks?

boneprone 08-20-2002 03:00 PM

Jesus Dialer cancels NO ONE!
And accepts all that accept Jesus into their hearts.

If you cant trust Jesus who can you trust?

Ive said it before and ill say it again, accept only two forms of payment to your site.

Cash, or Jesus Dialer.

Either way you are gunna get what you earn

nocostporn 08-20-2002 03:02 PM

wow some people are clueless...He's saying that if they see you broke a rule, decide to term you, don't term you(blocking your login or actually telling you via email) and you keep sending traffic thinking you will be paid...would it hold up in a case?...thats what you were asking, correct? good question too

nocostporn 08-20-2002 03:08 PM

and it shouldn't just apply to AP,I've seen it happen a few times with other programs

FlyingIguana 08-20-2002 03:09 PM

i don't care about that 50 bux of whatever from 4 years ago. i don't agree with it, and it seems like a lot of people are getting stiffed by amateur pages.

i can see the ftc freezing assets over something like this. 75% of tgp/cj sites out there use amateur pages with mouseovers, mainly because their traffic trade scripts have huge and ugly links. that can produce a large number of compaints, which could get them in hot water.

this has nothing to do with rule violations and everything to do with theft. they are benifiting from taking this traffic, even when its for very minor mistakes.

I think that would go against their rules for being able to read the text. If it is hard to read, then the text is pointless to even be there.

I don't really know about suing them... since you don't sign a contract with them, it would be hard to say.

Muff 08-20-2002 04:03 PM

If you read the terms you can technically never remove their links or you will forfeit your last months pay. Cause they cant see the reffering links anymore.

I got burnt like that.

Flyingigwana, first, let me say that you're an asshole.
you're an asshole for using this forum to network and make money for yourself and then come on here and bash amateurpages.
You're an asshole who should be banned immediately.

oh, and to answer your question. No. They can't be successfully sued. Especially not with some yoyo canadian lawyer or banister or whatever they call themselves. :1orglaugh

I have a collection of favorite "I'll sue you" emails that I'm sure compairs favorably with lensman's. :1orglaugh

SR 08-20-2002 05:20 PM

I don't think you need to sue them.

But for them I think they can easily see if someone is really cheating them or if someone simply uses the wrong font size or color.
they should just mail u and tell you to change it.

Bizzump 08-20-2002 05:32 PM

dont let these dumb bitches talk you out of it. amateurpages CAN be sued. These morons trying to talk you out of it are just kissing lens ass

That's a bad example. Read the 1st rule:

"1. Use the banners and pics exactly as shown. No text-only or pic-only links. No unreadable text - like blue text on a black background."

Read of the rules here:

This is true. I have dealt with many such contracts outside of the adult biz that are like this. The reason they exist? No one questions their validity and therefore it helps keeps people 'more' in line.

GFED 08-20-2002 05:50 PM

I think they should send you an e-mail at least. I was in the 12clicks program and at least he sent an e-mail when I got termed. I'm not sure why I was termed though.

If I sent you an email, I didn't think you were stealing from me.:1orglaugh

as a rule, if you're stealing from me, you'll never know I caught you until that disappointing moment at the mailbox.
And if you thought you were slick, you always plead your case to the public that it was an honest mistake.

bullshit.:321GFY

amateur pages has been granted immunity for anything it does by janet reno before she left, dont you know?

Don't believe everything you read. A good webmaster doesn't lose cash for bad colors.

Read the GFY rules:

Q: Someone really pissed me off. I want to slam them on the board. Is this cool?
A: First off make sure you have substance to do so. Show some proof. We all want to know who is dirty.

If you don't have proof, don't slander us or any other sponsor.

I'm waiting for YOUR PROOF. Don't bother posting anymore until you do.

i don't think its right what amateur pages is doing to honest webmasters. i would like to see them change their policies. i'm allowed to voice my opinions, that doesn't make me an asshole.

if they keep pissing off honest webmasters they won't be making as much money in the long run. they might be successful, but they won't be as successful as they should be. you have to have strict rules running a click through program, i don't even think its worth running one with all the cheaters out there, but you have to be fair. i don't think amateur pages is being fair from what i've seen and heard.

lensman the proof was in your email box when i talked to you 4 years ago when i was terminated when i made a coding mistake. its not my intention to slander, but i want to bring this up because i don't think its right at all.

Do not attack us or any other sponsor here without offering proof.

If you do, start a new thread. Otherwise, make responsible posts, not ones like these.
