What's your secret to working from home?

Mine = headphones or closing the door.

Bonus secrets = coffee, sunshine, fresh air

marzzo 05-01-2007 12:32 PM

Eat regularly and don't forget to exercise.

Make sure your friends don't make a habit of stopping by unannounced too often.

Unless they have beer, of course.

CDSmith 05-01-2007 12:37 PM

Coffee

Plenty of water

Take regular breaks to maintain a semblance of a life.

And every 6 to 8 weeks... go get a haircut.

:D

not answering phone or door for days at a time.
if someone, anyone, wants to get in touch with me they have to go the email or icq route.

I'm not sure I could computer job @ home for a carreer, but as a I student, I really enjoy working on the computer :)

Work 3 hours then a break. Work 3 hours then a break. Work 3 hours then a break. I usually get up around 8 and start working around 9. I finish up around 7 or so then eat dinner.

And I try to not work on the weekend.

The real question is what's your secret to working in a office. I don't think I could ever go back to that again. Unless I'm the boss of course.

I just started working out of the home office about a week ago. so far so good. I try to work in 3-4 hour blocks and then wonder downstairs for a 30 mins and play with the kids and wife. If the kid is napping then maybe just the wife ;) that always makes the day better. I also don't make coffee so i have to get dressed and leave the house to go to 711. if i didn't have to go to the gym or get coffee i would work in my boxers all day. I'm sure none of you guys want to chat with me all day in my boxers .. lol

I just took a 30 min break and went for a motorcycle ride. that always makes things better :)

Great idea right there. Going out to get your coffee makes you get dressed and ready for the day/world.

Never ever turn on the TV, and take a normall lunch break as you would in an office

Gcontent 05-01-2007 02:06 PM

No secret.. just natural :)

I gotta remember to wake up or go to bed... sometimes going outide is a good think ;)

I wake up when it's dark and sleep when it's dark!

Worried 05-01-2007 02:15 PM

I have no distractions, I live by myself and have no friends or family who come over to bother me, no one comes over at all and I like it like that.

I could never live with another person in the house.

aico 05-01-2007 02:16 PM

Strippers, lots and lots of strippers.

k0nr4d 05-01-2007 02:39 PM

My trick is to work either at night or while most of my friends are at work. I also try to avoid having any booze in the house.

Sometimes working at home seems like living in the office:(

To break the monotony, I sometime go at work at my "other office" see http://www.sheratonlacaleta.com/eng/informacion/
