The content selection sucks but the quality is good. It will do well.

NinjaSteve 05-01-2007 01:26 PM

I'm sure the content will grow. And so will the ads.

Yeah, they have already cut a lot of major advertising deals with big companies.

bl4h 05-01-2007 06:20 PM

azurecash 05-01-2007 07:13 PM

Icast Digital

Icast is a web tv system that will focus on original content more than just taking TV and moving it to the web.

Going to be pretty cool.....keep your eyes peeled.

ayne468 05-01-2007 07:34 PM

What is joost?

RawAlex 05-01-2007 07:41 PM

Joost is an interesting theory, but if it was adopted to any great level, would pretty much bring the internet to it's knees. The bandwidth required to make it run is beyond stupid.

We've made what we think is a reasonable trade-off between the quality of the picture and the bandwidth usage, but this is full-screen TV-quality video - so there are limits on how low we can keep bandwidth usage while delivering good picture quality.

Figure 300mb an hour... 10 hours a day call it 3 gig a day, 90 gig a month PER USER. If you are an ISP with 100,000 plus customers, the weight of this stuff on your network and peering points is going to be truly intense.

My feeling is that it will get more widely used, and then a whole bunch of people are going to get hit with excess bandwidth charges from their ISPs and suddently it will be VERY uncool to use. I notice that Sympatico (my ISP here) recently changed their programs so that new customers cannot get unlimited bandwidth. I think they see an issue coming.

PurelyInsane 05-02-2007 06:35 PM

So how do we get Adult channels into joost? I want my Joost Porn Edition!

munki 05-02-2007 06:40 PM

Someone hook up an invite... mik at topchoicecash dot com

azurecash 05-03-2007 08:51 AM

Raw Alex very good point, your right that the end users will have to pay more, so what will happen is that the tv will be cheap or free but your internet bill will be high.

Compdoctor 05-03-2007 08:59 AM

I would like it, if it did not crash, or drag all the time. As the man said above, bandwidth issues.

ADL Josh 05-03-2007 01:31 PM

i think it's gonna do well:thumbsup

Magnus 05-03-2007 01:54 PM

With all the major advertisers on board, it's making waves and will only get better. We are in the "on demand" entertainment I want, when I want, there will be many like minded business models to come.
