How do Markers work in vegas?
Going to vegas in a couple days, i don't want to bring a lot of cash with me because i get nervous carrying it around, and my ATM limit is only 500. If i wanted to get a marker for say 3K, how do i do it?
|
You can just have them charge w/e amount to your card so it will bypass your ATM limit
|
You need to fill out a credit app with them , i would do it before hand, especially if your going on a weekend, they need to do a bank verifcation and so forth, as long as you have good credit and have money that covers the amount that your lending, youll be fine.

I thought a marker was like a loan
|
i thought a marker was a colored pen...

The casinos can help with large sums of money, its best to call ahead and get it worked out. They have a few solutions.
For only $3k though the best solution is to take a cab to the bank and cash a check. Walking around with 3k in a casino isn't anything. Put your extra cash in the safe when its not needed. |
|
Not sure if this is how markers work, but they can query the balance of your checking account and will give you a line of credit up to that amount.

call ahead, and call to a lot of casinos. make sure they fight for your money. if you have good credit and all that, you can get some good comps too. Remember you do not need to use all the credit they give you, but you do use all the comps :)

Just take the cash, wad up 5 grand and put it in your shoe, thats bound to b safe! lol :)

ermm
during internext i put 1-2k in the slot machines at a time ... 3k marker is a bit low??? |
I spend 3k at the dollar store. newb :1orglaugh

Just bring the cash, trust me, nobody will bat an eyelash out here.
You don't mess with a marker : A. Unless they know you and have invited you to play based on your stature. B. For anything under $50,000, and even then, that is peanuts. This is Vegas, not Atlantic City. |
If you're only going to bring 3k that's relatively a low amount to carry around in Vegas. The prosties probably have more in their cleavage unless Wayne Brady has come by to make a withdrawal from them. However, try this first. With my bank, I called them and had the ATM limit increased when I go on vacation, cause I have a 500ATM/1K per day, and I had them set it to 5k/5k.

Work out what MAXIMUM marker you could have approved is, the higher, the better (I usually look for 30-40k). SHOP around the casinos, and tell them you want a pre-approved marker for $XX,XXX and what would you have to do to arrange that and come stay at their hotel/casino ? Play one against the other and then go with the best offer, and there WILL be LOTS of comps for you. Make sure at least TWICE you cash 50% of your marker at a table, bet for short time at your usual levels, then complain about something and cash in and move on. The more often you do this, as in a strategy, the better your results will be because you begin to get track record. Works a fucking treat ;-) :2 cents: |

Atlantic City is on the up and up... |

If i sit down at a table with $500 and bet it all in one hand and lose I would get virtually no comp dollars. Now if I sit with $500 and play $75 hands for 4 hours, then I will be looking really good in their system. Of course they keep a log of how much you cash in at the table, but to earn big comps, you have to actually play for a good amount of time :) |

It's an old article from last year, but I guess your right. My apologies to the A.C.:thumbsup |

I am NOT talking about earning comp dollars, I am talking about getting UPFRONT comps. You are working the marketers, not the comp/points system. It is VERY discretionary. What you then earn as play comps is extra, because when you call the Mandalay Bay and say "I want a $xxxxx marker and I have compe room, meals and limo from Harrahs", they will many times outdo if they KNOW you do come to gamble. It works. :2 cents: |
