VOIP.com or Vonage.com - or other? Which one is better?
I have had Vonage for a few years now and it has been "ok" but I am not 100% happy with them - and now they seem to be on the verge of disaster after losing the suit against Verizon (Patent infringement)
So where do I go from here? Anyone have experience with the likes of VOIP.com etc? |
When I did my homework, Vonage was #88 on the top100 VoIP porviders list ...
# 1 and 2 were both SIPphones, and I dont like being tied to my PC when I am talking ... #3 was VoIP.net (now BROADVOX) I have been with them for 2 years now, and have ZERO complaints ... once every 60 or so calls you get a line with a bit of echo, but hanging up and calling back solves that problem. The online customer portal is very thorough and easy to use, and support is AWESOME! I think the longest I've had to wait in queue is maybe 3 minutes ... http://broadvoxdirect.com/ :thumbsup :thumbsup |
I switched from Vonage to SunRocket and couldn't be more satisfied with the quality of service.

I dunno.. I've been using Vonage for over 6 years, pretty happily! :)

Lingo has the best deal if you do a lot of International calls

Checking out all the services that you guys recommend. Keep them coming! :thumbsup |
I like viatalk for the fact that they send ANI information, meaning you can get the information of people that block their caller ID or call using *67
|
I'll be getting one for Canada and USA pretty soon. The best deal I've found so far is http://www.ca.inter.net/en/voip/
|
Have had Vonage for a few years with no problems.

Browsing these suggestions I see that the international rates are fairly the same EXCEPT FOR for mobile - there the prices fluxuate a lot. BROADVOX for instance could not compete at all for calls to mobile....
Keep them coming! |
Yeah .... I don't call outside of North America very often, and if I do I ask for a landline number ...
but as far as service goes, I have been very impressed with Broadvox. I have several friends with Vonage, and they tell me that support is a bit of a PITA, and I have read similar on several VoIP forums such as www.hotvoipnews.com |
there is also lingo. and they seem pretty good.

I never had a good experience with Vonage. I ended going with the phone via cox cable. It has has been working great!
|
Been with Vonage for over a year now with zero complaints.
That said, I haven't had the need to actually deal with any of their people aside from paying my bill, and the initial sign-up process. |
Vonage is dying a fast death due to their recent loss in Verizon's patent infringment case (they are not allowed to enroll new customers which is the final nail in their coffin). I would DEFINITELY start looking for alternative VoIP providers sooner rather than later.
We don't necessarily sell residential VoIP service, but if any of you are interested, I can give you a dirt cheap softphone (think Skype) for like $84/year. Includes unlimited US & Canada calling and a phone number in any area code. The clients also include video conferencing and are great for when you travel. philip/at/squawxdotcom |

Phil, I belive a judge halted all enforcement of the verizon stay against vonage.. Saw that a few days ago.. Vonage will make a deal or get bought out.... |

Washington ? VoIP provider Vonage was afforded a measure of breathing room as a Court of Appeals judge granted the company a permanent stay of a previous court?s injunction that would have barred Vonage from signing up new customers. http://www.twice.com/article/CA6436112.html |
I would love the link to the top 100 as well....
