Best Drummer in the world

I dunno if it's fair to say best int he world so lets say the best in a mainstreme band that everyone would know... not some whiz kid from alabamma or some shit....

lets be real

bottom line is this

it's narrowed down to

Neil Pert (rush)

Chad Smith (RHCP)

Dave Lombardo (slayer)

Im gonna go ahead and say it but

Chad Smith

I know I know.. he is not the most technical at all... but you know what.. he never messes up... ever... always on beat.. never messes up no matter what happends...

dave and neil are way more technial than chad.. but bottom line is chad smith never messes up

Voodoo 04-28-2007 06:22 PM

Chad is good, however there are many better in Jazz circuits.

I saw this guy the other day for the first time on DVD and was blown away. I'm not real familiar with Tool but will be checking them out after seeing Danny.

The DVD was "Trust Your Ears: The Drum Tech Explorations of Jeff Ocheltree"

Pert is #1 (living), period.

Of all time: Bonham (1), Moon (2)

One guy who ranked in the top 10 on a recent classic rock "Of all time" poll for best drummer is Mick Fleetwood.

RedShoe 04-28-2007 09:36 PM

Jeff Queen is VERY good, but he's a marching band percussionist.
This video is bad ass. http://www.vicfirth.com/artists/vide...een_pws4HQ.mov

Matt 26z 04-28-2007 09:38 PM

I like Jimmy Chamberlain of the Smashing Pumpkins.

He is a great drummer. I like his drumming on "Cherub Rock." His style stands out because of his jazz background. He didn't know anything about rock drumming until he joined Smashing Pumpkins.

Waaayy overrated. Yes, he was a really cool and insane drummer. And he is often imitated. But he wasn't versatile at all. He played nothing but fills. He sounds great when you listen to The Who records. Although, if Keith Moon was in any other band his style probably wouldn't have worked. The Who was based on rhythm & blues, and it worked great for them.

That's not even up for debate. It amazes me that this isn't a worldwide fact known by all music lovers.

I'm going to have to toss another vote in for Danny Carey, He's the best drummer around IMO. Though he is a little crazy.

Jarmusch 04-29-2007 08:11 AM

There can be only one.

There's already more than 10 best drum players in the world in this thread.

Pointless Thread of the Week Award.

I love Dave Grohl, but I happened to see "We Jam Econo- The Story of The Minutemen" on tv the other day and I am also going to give honorable mention to George Hurley from The Minutemen & fIREHOSE.

TheAmericanCannibal 04-29-2007 03:42 PM

U guys aren't real musicians if you think those are the greatest drummers in music

John Bonham RIP was incredible.

My buddy Travis Barker is amazing...

Dennis Chambers any drummer will tell u, is even more amazing

But to me, the best I have ever seen or heard in person, has to be Stewart Copeland
