DVD producers inside please....

What are you doing about the torrent sites? These are out of control with everyones movies and I don't see any real way to stop it, curb it, slow it down, or even profit from it.

I know Jules Jordan was watermarking his movies for a while, but I have not seen anything from his new company, so don't know if he stuck at it or not. Decent idea, at least he gets some site branding and promo with it. However, I don't know if people who will rip movies will even bother joining a site.

I'm at a loss.

You?

between torrent sites and usenet theres not much you can do but watermark your product and consider it viral marketing.

I've been kicking that around, but not sure how the consumers would feel about that. I think it would bother me, but then again I guess it depends on how large it is. A 40% opacity may not be so bad.

I will keep the watermark in mind. I wonder what will happen with the torrents. We will see.

The sad thing is most of the people on this board use them kind of sites and think it is ok and justify it somehow...

And I am the bad guy for pointing it out

If you're selling content to companies to put out on DVD then I'm sure that they would be pissed to see watermarked content...I can only see that as acceptable if you're selling it on your own site.

The adult community would be wise to form a consortium whose only mission is to go after piracy sites. Sort of like an RIAA for the adult biz, but with even more narrow focus - putting pirates out of business.

The non-profit organization would be a fulltime watchdog and legal arm of the industry. Any settlements resulting from lawsuits against the sites, and those companies conspiring with and enabling them through their advertising revenues, would go back into the consortium war-chest.

DRM is another possible solution, but no one seems to want to lead in embracing it.

ADGWebDude has a good point. If the adult industry -both online and offline companies- could get together form an organization and pool some money to hire some attorney's and people to check out the popular torrent sites of which there are only a few major ones, they could at least try to make an example of the worst offenders who are responsible for much of the torrent uploading and wiin real monetary damages. Of course this won't stop it all but it could prevent a lot of torrents being uploaded. The vast majority of internet users enjoy the torrents if they are web savvy but they aren't adding to them themselves.
