The Pirate Bay is crazy..

I'm sorry to talk about pirating again but "The Pirate Bay" is one of the largest bit torrenting sites out there. Governemnt knows about it and does everything they can to shut it down. Check out how many legal threats they get: http://thepiratebay.org/legal

They need a new location that will protect them and their assets.. So what is their idea? To buy an island. Which is a man made island that was built during WWII Shown here:
http://buysealand.com/wp-content/upl...tf-803_438.jpg

Does anyone else think this is odd??

Aussie Rebel 04-28-2007 02:06 AM

Jakke PNG 04-28-2007 02:18 AM

I think it's pathetic that authorities can't do anything about such clear piracy.

More Booze 04-28-2007 02:20 AM

flashfire 04-28-2007 02:21 AM

Crazy Carlos 04-28-2007 02:53 AM

Mutt 04-28-2007 03:53 AM

torrents and forums supported by free media hosting services like rapidshare are going to kill this business. it's not Chicken Little either, every day thousands of more surfers learn about them. there won't be anybody left to pay for porn other than people who are just not geared to steal from anybody or those who would want the convenience of joining a site and getting what he wants for 30 bucks without messing around. but every day that group gets smaller.

it sucks, many will say it's up to the movie industry, music industry and the online porn business to adapt - adapt to what - getting stolen from? gettting blackmailed? the answer what the whining masses have told the music industry is 'your CD's are too expensive, give it to us as cheap as we want it, let us decide which songs, scene we want to buy.' Downloading Bangbros scenes for 20 cents a pop - it's a far cry from a 30 dollar a month recurring membership.

I've been saying that for a long while. But nobody gives a fuck.

I even posted it on my non-updated blog in http://www.teengodfather.com/archives/39

These filesharing sites must get closed down, or it really is the end of the business model we have now.:(

Anna_O 04-28-2007 04:23 AM

Even though I hate all the free porn out there and everything, I must admit that I use thepiratebay.org and other sites almost every day to download TV shows that hasn't aired yet or won't air here in Sweden. Guess that's the definition of a hypocrite...

Jakke PNG 04-28-2007 04:36 AM

My personal opinion is that bittorrent and other p2p downloads aren't such a big problem.. but rapidshare etc are.
Check out for example this one thread
http://www.babeindex.dk/showthread.php?t=57780
400+ movies, ready for anyone to download. No need for special software, or knowledge about upload/download/seeding and whatnot. Just click and download.

Thanks, masturbation time!!! :winkwink:

Seriously though, the torrent sites can't be touched since they don't store anything on their servers, but how is it possible that nu big company has sued the shit out of sites like rapidshare?

In finland it's also illegal to DOWNLOAD and not only share pirated material (even via p2p). But in order to do something the person whose copyright is violated has to file charges. The police etc won't do anything about that on their own.

Also, theres a relatively big porn-piratism forum in finland, and they get around this by forbidding the sharing of finnish porn because the finnish producers could file charges against them. How many of you north-american webmasters/producers check out foreign forums? Not many I think.

Fucking sad. something like megaerotic is 100% powered by illegal porn, but nobody can do shit about it.

No idea. I think something like class-action lawsuit against them would be most efficient because they really host everything from everyone.

The core of the problem isn't torrent sites, p2p, or any other sharing programs. The core route of the problem is broadband. As broadband connections get faster, the more the damage will be done. Entire site rips are available at a plethora of sites, several DVDs worth of material or more. Back in the 56k days getting that kind of data would have been nearly impossible but now... it is just a few hours away and having quite literally months of content. Shutting down site A isn't going to do a bit of good when a brand new site can be up tomorrow thanks to a steady influx of people willing to "share". There has to be some solution to this problem, and it needs to be found soon. Suing sites obviously isn't the answer that's for sure.

Jakke PNG 04-28-2007 05:06 AM

While I agree with you to some extent. It must be made clear that piracy is enforced. The optimal solution would be for the people who originally upload the content, or seed the torrents to get heavy fines. There should be an entity like RIAA but for adult content, and it should be international, and it should be efficient and have authority.

I personally, sincerely hope it comes about.

Dagwolf 04-28-2007 05:08 AM

I tried software piracy but people kept laughing at when I told them to walk the plank :(

Unfortunately, it won't, no matter how much you hope for it. Most countries don’t work well together. TPB’s existence (as well as others) is proof of that. You can shut down a number of sites, true, but more will just popup and replace them as they have always done. A solution will have to be found and implemented by the adult community that doesn't involve countries working together with international law.

Special ops forces that break into datacenters and physically destroy their servers, then go ahead and start to hunt the operators so they can't start from scratch?

OMG. I don't think that's going to be happening anytime soon... :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Regardless, what about torrent sites that don't require any centralized datacenters? There still isn?t a mass index searchable torrent database out there yet but if you go after places like rapidshare there will be, then the problem becomes the same as before or worse.

Not really. I'm in the same boat, I live in Hungary so don't have much access to English tv. I download a couple of tv shows every week, but I'd happily pay a reasonable amount to do it legally.

It some of the tv companies, got a clue and started putting out legal torrents with advertising they's soon have a very nice income steam for very little expense.

They can EASILY survive off donations im sure..

ultimatebbwdotcom 04-28-2007 12:20 PM

Why dont webmasters try and protect their content better.

Its very easy to block download managers, put daily download limits in place and throttle download speeds to prevent those that are inclined to share from going ballistic on your site.

Its not going to stop everything from getting out but it does make things a lot more troublesome. Your average regular member isnt really going to notice the difference, just those that want it all quick.

And why do websites still think that letting members download all the content to hardrive is a good idea anyway........that one has always baffled me, its not 1998.

I read about that, it's a great theory, about the island and all, I wonder how it will turn out.I don't use The Pirate Bay anymore, it's been pretty bad these few months...But I wish them all the best with their war!

Yes, but the bulk of those visitors will never pay for anything online, even if their lives depend on it.

Of course if they buy the island I guess they can change the laws and do whatever they like.
